Turn the air mixture screw clockwise until the screw stops. Then back it out 2 full turns. Adjust the idle screw until the rpms are about 800. If it will not idle then you may have a dirty carb and will need to clean or replace it.

SOURCE: nissan ga15 engine idle adjustment locations

The idle speed is computer controled, it is not adjustable, you most likely have sludge in the throttle valve and the idle speed control air bypass valve, clean them with carb spray with the engine running.

SOURCE: Idle Adjustment Screw Location on 96 Civic

your idle can not be manually adjusted. it is controled by the ecm via the throttle position sensor on the throttle body(tps). you have to have a diagnostic scanner to interface with the ecm to adjust the idle. most service shops have this equipment

SOURCE: Need to adjust fuel and air mix to start trimmer.

Hello gwturley201:

I am Including the Carburetor Adjustment File Also.
From your Description it Sounds like the Exhaust Port or Muffler is Restricted with Carbon Deposits, the Carburetor Metering Pump Actuator Gap is Incorrect.
>>The Following is a Basic Instruction File for Doing a Diagnostic on the Engine for this Problem. Any Input is Appreciated.
>>**Remove the Muffler and Make Sure the Exhaust Port is Clear.
>>If it is, then Try to Start the engine with the Muffler Off.
>>If it Starts and Runs Properly, then Clean the Spark Arrestor Screen in the Muffler or Replace the Muffler if Required.
Is the Fuel Line from the Fuel Filter Staying Full of Fuel?
The Carburetor Metering Jet Actuator is Set so the Pump Diaphram Dowl is Just Touching the Actuator Arm. These Components are Located Under the Cover with 4 Small Screws Holding it to the Carburetor Body.
>>The Following is the Instruction File for Setting the Air Mixture Screws. Any Input is Appreciated. The Procedure is the Same for 1 or 2 Mixture Screws, Just Use the Instruction File and Skip Over the Section with the Missing Mixture Screw ( Usually the H Mixture Screw).
>>Now Setting the Air Mixture Screws:
>>****Turn the Idle Air (L) and Main Air (H) Mixture Screws In Until SNUG **Do Not Jam** Then Reverse Both Screws 1 1/2 Turns. Set the Throttle Full Open, Start the Engine.
>>Turn the Main Air (H) Mixture Screw Clockwise Until Proper Revs are Obtained. **Carefully Use your Finger and Move the Governor Arm to Rev the Engine (on Chainsaws and Trimmers Use the Trigger to Rev the Engine) Until you Reach Max RPMs (on Chainsaws and Trimmers, the RPMs are Not Set to MAX. Set to Max and then Reverse the Setting Screw 1/4 or 1/2 Turn. If the H Mixture Screw is Set too High; the Engine will be Starved for the Oil in the Gas and Damage the Piston and Jug/Cylinder) and the Engine is Running Proper at Full Throttle Up a Grade or for Chainsaws and Trimmers; they Operate without Bogging Down. Occasionally you May have to Turn this Counter Clockwise to Achieve the Proper Revs.**
>>Now Allow the Engine to Idle. Set the Engine Idle Screw (Not Idle Air) so the Engine will Stay Running if Required.
>>Now Set the Idle Air (L) Mixture Screw so there is No Hesitation when Rapidly Throttling from Idle to Full Throttle. Reset the Engine Idle if Required.****
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

SOURCE: idle speed adjustment

the ecu drives a unit called an idle airspeed controller.if there is a vacuum leak, the computer will have the idle speed too high.
the IAC is a motor driven valve that controls airflow into the throttle body.it is common for idle speeds in the range of 1400rpm instead of 800 in this situation.
check the air filter, the throttle body cleaned, and the IAC has to be free moving.
also make sure that your coolant temperature sensor is accurate or the computer will think the engine is cold and keep the idle really high.

What is the factory setting for lowand high screws on 25cc craftsman blower

If the two screws are side by side, one is the high speed mixture screw and the other is the low speed mixture screw. To set the high and low adjustment screws, tighten the screws in until they stop, don't force the screw after it stops. Back each screw out 1 1/2 turns. The engine will start and run here if everything else is ok. Fine tune each adjustment screw by closing the screw off (CW) until the engine runs rough. Back the screw out (CCW) until the engine smooths out. Run the engine at full speed and adjust the high screw. Let off the trigger and adjust the low screw. Once the mixture screws are adjusted, you can turn the idle screw to adjust the idle speed. It can take some time getting it all adjusted.

What is carburetor setting on a2.3 chainsaw

There is no fixed carburetor setting on these engines, just two screws to adjust low-end and high-end operation. Special tool may be required, there are about a half-dozen screw head standards. Check eBay for tool. Get the engine to run and idle fast (idle adjust) so it doesn't stall, adjust low-end screw so that engine doesn't hesitate or sputter when accelerated. Adjust high-end screw to run fast and smooth on full throtle. Readjust idle to normal.

What is carburatoradjustment on a modle 358.355140

This is your carb:
http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/00051166-00002.png

Here is the parts list:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Chainsaw-Parts/Model-358355140/0247/1503220/00051166/00002?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=358355140

The initial settings are 1.5 turns from just closed.

Adjust the "L" Needle (low) so that the engine does not stall or hesitate when the throttle is increased.

Next run the engine at MAX speed and adjust the "H" Needle until it just barely stops missing and you get MAX speed.

Recheck for stalls or hesitation from idle... Adjust L Screw again if necessary until it no longer hisitates or stalls when throttle is increased.

Recheck MAX speed and adjust as necessary.

Set idle...speed with top screw.

L and H acrews are on the side.

HOW TO ADJUST THE HIGH AND LOW ON A WEEDEATER CARBURETAR?

Hijamesbj44...

Before you remove or try to adjust your low and high speed jets you should always count the number of turns to lightly bottom the adjusting screws.
Be sure to write the number of turns down on a piece of paper so you will know when you go to replace them if you remove them for cleaning.
Normally you adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position to start with...you will then re-adjust when the engine is warm by turning the idle screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly.
The high speed jet is normally adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated positon, then re-adjusted to run smoothly when running at high speed by turning the High Speed screw in or out.

Have a sears 32cc craftsman weedeater that turns on but as soon as I push thegas trigger it turns off. Put a new fuel line, spark plug and clean the carb. What should I do next?

Sounds like your idle fuel mixure is too lean, depending on how old you trimmer is, it should have 3 adjustment scews, one for the idle, one for the low idle mixure, and one for the high idle mixure. If all three are a flathead screw type you can make the adjustment yourself. look for the one labeled "low" and make your adjustment counterclock wise in 1/4 turn increments until it runs properly. you shouldn't have to adjust the high mixure screw. if you don't have the screw type adjustments, them you may need to buy a special tool (available at most lawn mower shops) to make the nessesary adjustment. make sure you leave the Idle Screw alone though( the one that move the cable) as adjusting this one will make adjusting the mixure harder to get right.

I have a Craftsman 32cc weed trimmer, can't give gas, it stalls

Usually the diaphram is wore out. It is a relatively inexpensive part. Does it run better with a little choke? If the answer is yes chances are it's the diaphram. Also sometimes the adjustment screws can move. There are two, one for low speed, and one for high. With the engine warmed up make small movements on the screws (some are marked low, and high) in, and out adjust til the engine runs at its optimum.
Hope this helps!

Start with 1 1/4 turns on each and adjust from there. The screw closest the engine is the idle mixture. The other is the high speed

Hard starting after rebuild

My name is Dennis and I also have the model you are having difficulty with and I can only repeat the instructions from the owners manual (with personal comments) because they have always served me adequately I hope that will serve your needs.
IDLE ADJUSTMENTS:
There are three adjustment screws on the carburetor labeled
H (for High speed MIXTURE)
L (for low speed MIXTURE)
T (for idle SPEED SETTING)
They are located just above the primer bulb. If your saw floods so soon in the starting process the idle mixture setting can be set too rich and the speed may be set too slow. Remember the chain will not move when the idle speed is set correctly with a WARM ENGINE!
Adjust the idle speed to just below chain movement WITH A WARM ENGINE this is just below the activation RPM of the centrifugal clutch. Let the engine run at a higher speed than idle until it is warm -- 3 min -- you may have to keep goosing it until then.
Please don't exceed the limits of the plastic limiters when making adjustments.
If you haven't adjusted the mixture screws you may just have to adjust the idle speed and that can start my turning that screw all the way in to the stop and then back out 4-1/2 turns for a good place to start. FAST IDLE -- Adjust the speed until the engine runs with out the chain moving. Adjust clockwise to increase speed. C clockwise to decrease engine speed.
Accelerate the engine and if it stumbles and makes too much smoke it's too rich turn the
LOW SPEED MIXTURE (in) clockwise in 1/16 a turn increments NO MORE at a time because a two cycle needs to run at a setting for a short time to really prove the setting. don’t run it wide open to warm it up but it should be at a fast idle. Nothing you do will be proven correct until the engine is warm.
Good Luck
Glad to be of assistance - please rate the solution because I will learn from your rating. Thank you
