Cannon IP1800 Ink Refill

I need to know how to refill the cartridges. I don't see a place to refill them. It is cheaper for me to buy a brand new printer than it is to buy the new cartridges when the ink runs out. Thats crazy.

You must remove the stickers from the top of the cartriges and you will see 1 mark in the black one and 3 in the color one. there you must make holes and refill the cartriges. see for video tutorial

Having a hard time finding ink cartridges, can i refill them or get ideas of easier ways to find and deal with this new printer

you can refill cartridges your self ( very messy) or you can have them refilled professionally at a cartridge shop
go online as there are places like e-bay that sell cartridges or other specialist cartridge retailers that sell units
printers such as hp always say use only this brand of cartridge but if you find a good online ink retailer you will see that all cartridges are either made as specific or generic and only the name on the case is different
where you got the printer will have cartridges for it

I have purchased new ink, all installed and my YELLOW won't print. Have done several ink head cleanings and alignment, etc, HELP! I love y HP, but I will go get something else!

Did you buy a brand new Hp cartridge, or did you buy a third party one or a refill kit? Sometimes after refilling a few times, the cartridge won't work anymore, and some of the 3rd party cartridges are cheaper, but inferior. If it was an Hp one, maybe it is defective? Hope this helps!

How do i refill the ink myself cannon mp520

You need to reset or replace the ink level monitoring chip on these cartridges for refills to work. I know some refill kit sellers don't like to mention this to people before they buy the ink. Otherwise, I would recommend Cartridge World for ink refills because it can be messy to fill these cartridges and they always reset the chips for you.

Canon ip1980 after refill, status monitor still shows ink at low

This is a common problem with compatible cartridges where the chip on the cartridge is faulty, missing or is not making contact correctly with the printer cartridge connectors. The first thing to do is make sure that the plastic seal has been removed from the chip and that it is free of any residual adhesive etc. You can clean this with a cotton bud soaked in isopropyl alcohol or VCR tape head cleaner. DO NOT USE SURGICAL SPIRIT or any other cleanser as this will either leave a residue itself or damage the plastics and rubbers in the printer.

Once cleaned reinsert the cartridge and try again. If this is still unsuccessful the best solution is to return the cartridges to the vendor where you bought them and get another brand of cartridges or use genuine original cartridges. When you find a reliable manufacturer of cartridges, stay with them. Don’t forget to clean the print head and realign & recalibrate the printer at every cartridge change for optimum results. Also make sure that you use high quality paper for the best images results.

Ink Cartridge quits printing after being refilled

When you refill cartridges especially with manufactures such as Lexmark, HP, Cannon, etc. they put something on the bottom of the cartridge called a 'Smart Chip' this tells the printer how much ink is left, when the cartridge runs out of ink if you use that cartridge at all it tells the printer its out of ink. They do make devices to reset the Smart Chip but vary depending on the type of printer. The Smart Chips do wareout, and thus might give you a lot of problems, and all of this depends on the use of the cartridge.

Better not to refill. Better buy a new original Canon cartridge. The reason being that some of the newer printers have sensors which can detect refilled cartridges and will cause more problems later.

My cannon printer pixma ip1800 cannot detect ink pls help me...

If after you install the cartridge you get a yellow light and error message:
“The following may have run out of color. The function for
detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled since the
ink level cannot be correctly detected. If you want to
continue printing with out this function, press the printer’s
start button. Canon recommends using new genuine Canon
cartridges in order to obtain optimum quality.”

Do not click “cancel printing”. Press printer start button
to start printing. This action will bypass the ink level
detection from the recycled cartridge. It will not damage the
printer! With a recycled cartridge this action needs to be
done one time.
A full recycled cartridge ink level may not display correctly.
It may show empty.
If you want to check the ink level, you can do a “Nozzle
check” by follow the directions below:
Go to menu File select print click on “Property” click
on “Maintenance”
Click on “Nozzle check” to print out the color check.
Click on “Cartridge Alignment” to align the cartridge.

See pictures for above process at Inktelligent ip 1800 topic

Also the refills refered to above are at the IP 1800 inkfilling page
