What is the oil capacity in a 1998 jeep cherokee 4.0l engine?

should hold six quarts...just to be sure, add five, run it and then re-check.
It's good to fill the filter before you put it on...doesn't need to be "full full" but just pour some in it, tap it on the ground a few times and add more...helps priming after oil change.

I just bump an oil sensor located by the filter. actually, i think i broke it. either way, now my oil light is on. does the sensor control my oil pressure in the engine? can i drive my jeep until its...

oil pressure is mechanically controlled by a valve inside oil pump. if it is not leaking it is ok to drive to have it replaced. mainly used as input to computer and for your gauge

Assuming that the transmission is a automatic, you fill it through the transmission dip stick tube. Just make sure you do not overfill it.

Fill the oil level on a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee,

yes you should remove the access. This will cause the engine to drown in a sense and have to fight. It is always safe to put in not enough to too much. You onlt have a certain amount of oil that can be placed in the pan before it runs up into your cylinder heads and can break the seal on the gasket. Then you would have to pay to get the cylinder head gasket replaced.
