  1. Set all tension to 1.
  2. Remove all the thread.
  3. Disengage the trimmer.
  4. Turn it by hand.
  5. If it is free, try your foot petal again. It it runs, learn how to thread. It only takes one mistake to bind up the machine.
  6. If still slow, borrow a foot petal (or take to a shop and use one there). If still slow, bad motor.
  7. It it does not turn free, open the case (but look on Youtube first):
  8. It might need lube. Use a LITTLE BIT of oil on the inner bearings but none on the motor.
  9. Cutter too tight. Loosen.
  10. Wad of thread inside.
  11. Something bent.
  12. Out of timing. Again, see Youtube.

SOURCE: Brother CS-6000 E1 error message - my presser foot is not up!

Did you take this machine apart? If so, then the lever that extends from the thread tension wheel is to the right of the raised presser foot switch plate (inside the sewing machine), keeping the switch from being unpressed.

Take the machine apart again, raise the presser foot, and put the machine back together. This will ensure proper alignment of the plates.

SOURCE: What might cause my sewing machine to not respond when the foot pedal is depressed?

Make sure you're not in bobbin winding mode. The needle drive is disengaged when winding bobbin.

SOURCE: Every time I depress the foot pedal an E1 code pops up. Is my foot pedal causing this. Because I took it apart and everything seems to be ok. Can it be another problem inside the machine itself?

Search for:

Make Model E1

the information should give you a clue of where the problems lies and what is recommended.

SOURCE: Brother 3034d overlocker, handwheel is very stiff. I have oiled it and nothing happened. How do I fix it please?

If it is a mechanical machine, you can perform more oiling than recommended in the manual. I remove the base of my Bernina overlocker and oil the other moving joints. Even applying heat from a hairdryer may help. Below is the process I use for sewing machines, but it would work on a serger too:

The foot control on my husqvarna 545 viking sewing machine quit working. What's going on?

First not familiar with exact product , however troubleshooting is common.
This is if pedal can be unplugged and you have access to volt meter (these are cheap enough under $20 and have other uses to support purchase) , set meter to measure continuity, set meter to lowest ohms to start. Before using on pedal touch the red and black leads together, touching the result should be zero on meter, not touching infinity or blank. Connect leads in various manners to the pins or sockets move pedal. If your meter reads a high number while moving pedal you have an open circuit.
If you see the meter fluctuate as you depress pedal that would be expected ( normal) but then when fully depressed go high ( open) your pedal switch is faulty. The variation in resistance as you push pedal slowly is what varies the speed.

On the hand wheel there is the lock that is used to stop and start the needle from being used. This is necessary for refilling the bobbin with thread. If the hand wheel doesn't make the needle work then you will need to do some minor adjustment.
1. On the hand wheel find a small screw and loosen it until it is just about ready to remove.
2. Now tighten the hand wheel.
3. Tighten the small screw again.
It should be ready to use now.

make sure the plug for the foot pedal is connected securely to the machine.
could be the plug in the machine has a problem even tho the foot petal is plugged in
could be the foot petal has gone out and needs to be checked.

My Janome sewing machine wont stop.

The only thing I can think of is that the foot pedal may be slightly stuck and not returning fully up after being depressed. Unplug the foot pedal and check for anything stuck there then give it a good wiggle up and down a few times.

I have a 40 year old Brother machine. It now runs

Yes, it is the capacitor, or the condenser as you call it has comletely short-circuited electrically bypassing the rheostat, which causes the motor to run at full speed. The cure is simple...cut it out of the circuit. On Singer machines the culprit is usually located inside the foot pedal box...probably on your Brother machine also. They were meant to supress noise from entering into your power line, which causes interference when listening to AM broadcasts, which everyone at the time did. The capacitors themselves will either be in one or two round cans or square flat cans. Simply snip the wires to the capacitor(s) inside the foot controller box and your machine will once again work like normal!
