I bought a Kodak Easy Share V1003 for my wife Christmas 2007. It has been very gently used on few occasions. The camera took wonderful pictures; Pretty much everything we could ask for in a camera until we pulled it out a couple weeks ago to take a photo and when we turned it on the screen is a grey blue color. It shows no damage, and the camera still zooms and wil still snap a picture, or at least mechanically behave as if it snaps a picture; However there is no way to see what you are taking a picture of or view the picture afterwards
A new screen is availably from virtualvillage dot com for about $45. I replaced one last week. It only takes 20 minutes and a small screwdriver. The ribbon cable is held in by a flip up lock at the main board.
I'm having the exact same issue. This camera is now on it's second screen and has seen very little use since the screen was replaced. I pulled it apart again and reinserted/reseated the screen's flex connector thinking maybe the contacts weren't fully seated after the last repair, but no luck.
PS - As the owner of 4 digital cameras (and previous owner of a half dozen others), this Kodak is actually one of my all time favorites and outclasses my 2 Fuji digital cameras in every way imaginable. It'll break my heart if I can't fix this!
