It sounds like the scanner has the Symbol Code ID character enabled and you are scanning a GS1-128 (formerly known as UCC/EAN 128) code. You can disable this by scanning the Symbol Code ID None barcode from Adobe page 211 of 460 (Chapter 12 page 3) of the LS9208 Product Reference Guide. https://atgsupportcentral.motorolasolutions.com/content/emb/docs/manuals/6083309a.pdf
Download the quick start guide from support.symbol.com and reset to default by scanning the code from the PDF manual. This could either be a programmed ASCII prefix, or an error in the codes you are scanning. Have you seen the same problem with more than one scanner?
you need to scan some of the bar codes found on the manual.
Find the product reference manual -usually found on the cd with the scanner or download from motorola site - and in chapter "symbologies" scan "ENABLE CODE128" barcode.
To have prefix when a code is scanned, scan "SCAN OPTIONS" then " then "ENTER"
Last set the preffix value by scanning "SCAN PREFFIX" then four digits that correspond to the character you want to use as preffix.
If you need more than one character for preffix then you will need the Advanced formatting manual, which ican be downloaded from motorola. In this case you need to create a "rule".
Hello,
if all your barcodes have the same structure, it will an easy task.
You would need to scan following barcodes from ADF chapter in the Product Reference Guide located at http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=5880807apdf
Create New Rule
Send Characters Up To
Space Character in Alfanumeric Section
Skip Ahead 1
Send All That Remains
Save Rule
This will by all scanned barcodes send all characters up to the space character, skip the space and send the rest of data.
In general you can create an Advanced Data Programming Rule which will say: If you scan an UPC barcode, please send only the first 11 characters of the barcode.
There are programming barcodes in the manual for the scanner or you can use the 123Scan2 application provided at support.symbol.com to create the rule and print out an config sheet.
Hello this requires advanced data formatting which you will have to scan some bar codes to program it. If you give me your email I can send the codes to you.
Not a macro but if you need a particular code for a symbol. Try Start button and then run
type charmap
You will find all the symbols here and in the bottom right hand corner it shows the keystrokes for selected symbol.
