Question about Hitachi 50UX57B 50" Rear Projection Television
My Hitachi 50fx18b recently stopped working. Now when I push the on/off button, I hear it a click, but no picture or sound. I did notice in the back of the unit, when I press the on/off button, there is a red light on in the lower back inside of the tv curciut board area. and it goes off when i push the on/off button again. I'd like to find out if this unit is worth saving.
Common problem. You can get a repair kit that includes the C707 and E994 + repair instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

I just was given a guys old tv when he was moving out of our building. he had no idea what was wrong with it and bought a new one. i'm gonna try the remote thing. if it works ill laugh my butt off. but besides actually soldering on a new fuse are there any concrete ideas?

If you point the remote at the tv and push power -and you here the click -point the remote at the tv and push power agian- to here another click - wait a full ten seconds or more and then point the remote at the tv agian and push power - and the tv will come on

I received information from a faulty memory ;-)
He was referring to C707, which is a capacitor. E994 is the pico that is usually tied to this issue. HOWEVER... I can't find either of these on my board... gotta love hardware revisions hehe
I have found info on another Hitachi model that lists E907 pico fuse as the culprit, and this is indeed testing as open on my set. Will pick up a new 3000 mA pico and solder it on.
Hopefully this will give yyou someplace to start...
