Just make sure power is disconnected, pull element forward until wires are exposed, disconnect and reconnect new. make sure terminals fit secure to new element. you may need to gently crimp the spades to make them snug. slide element back into liner pusing wires back through. presto!!!! the new element should now work. it will also smoke

Electric range heating elements don't work at all for "bake" function, but "broil" function works (top element) & stovetop works.

The bake (bottom) element has probably burnt out. It's very easy and inexpensive to change them.

First order a new one. Get the range model number and search Google for the element part number. You will get a number of appliance parts suppliers. Check a couple of them for prices and record the part number. (A few suppliers use private part numbers. Most use the manufacturer's part number which will be the one which appears most frequently.)

You could then order from the least expensive supplier, but don't do so. Now search Amazon and eBay for that part number. You will find the part for less than half the price. Order one.

When it arrives, do this:
  1. Unplug the range or make SURE it is turned off.
  2. Remove the old element. It will be held in place with a single Phillips head screw or a hex-head screw. Use the right sized screwdriver or nut driver or socket-wrench as appropriate. The screw will be tight after years of baking. After removing the screw, pull and wiggle the element until it comes unplugged.
  3. Push the new element into the socket and secure it with the screw.
Turn on the oven and let it heat for 5-10 minutes before baking to burn off the bad-smelling coating on the new element.

My whirlpool electric stove not turning on

Make sure it is plugged in and you have power to your house. If everything is dead check your fusebox for blown fuses if you have circuit breakers reset the breaker for the stove by turning it off then back on. If the burners on the top work, but the oven won't you probably have a burned out bake element .To change this turn off power to the stove and unplug remove 2 or 3 screws holding the bake element and remove the wires to the element by loosing the screws on the terminals note sometimes bake elements plug in in this case just unplug. Reverse process to install. Reapply power and test.

Wiring that leads to bake element on Electric Range is not long enough to fit through the slot in the back of the oven.

thats why electricians carry long wires and junction boxes of all sorts in their trucks

a solution's is to use a junction connection box and add a new length of wire to the oven side

All bake elements are not the same. The part # for your bake element is #9758519. Hopefully you can find an appliance parts store in your area. Thay are fairly ease to replace. With the oven UNPLUGGED, Remove the two screws holding the element in and there should only be two wires connected to the element.
I hope this helps you. If I can assist you further, please let me know.

The baking element isn't working.

You can replace the element. The element should just plug in to the oven. You might have to remove a few bolts that hold the element in place. Get the model number of your range and call your local appliance stores, or order it online. Unplug the old element and plug in the new element.

Whirlpool Oven Element

It sounds like you have a bake element that needs to to be replaced. The following link explains how to access and replace one:

It is common for the bake element to wear out more frequently than the broil element due to the frequency of use. These elements are not interchangeable because of different wattage ratings. You should also check the wiring connections between the element and the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board. The EOC controls all the oven features. There is a separate relay on the board for each oven feature. It is possible for the bake relay to go bad, or the interconnecting wiring to the element, so you will need to check these items if your existing element checks good.

CAUTION: Make sure you follow all safety precautions and DO NOT attempt to service your range while it is still plugged in. High voltage potentials are still present in the back of the range even when the oven is not on. Always UNPLUG before taking any resistance readings.

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

If you have any questions about this repair, or need additional assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Bake element does not heat up

The tech is right if he used his electical tester to test the ERC. Reliable parts at 1-800-666-0313 for your new control, however I strongly recommend you have the technician order it and do the install as the parts houses will not warrantee an electrical part sold to a customer once it is installed. It is warranteed through the technician and he can get another ERC if the new one is bad or he will absorb the loss if he misdiagnosed the repair. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

Oven does not work, but the range top will?

Hi, Are both the bake and broil elements out?You will need to test the bake element first. Sometimes the element will have bubbles in it where it went bad. UNPLUG the range and remove the 2 screws holding the element in. With an OHM meter, check the element to see if it has continuity. If the test shows an open circuit, replace the element. If the test shows a closed circuit, there could be a bad wire connection, or a problem with the thermostat/clock assembly.
The clock assembly cost is around $100.00.
It might be a good idea to call a repaiarman out to be sure.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
