IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAMERA HAS BEEN DROPPED. NO REAL SOULUTION AS THE LENS IS SLIGHTLY BENT> YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PULL IT OUT MANUALY WITH YOUR FINGERS AND FLICK WITH A KNIFE/SCREWDRIVER.

I bought two of these on clearance and gave one to my in-laws. She suspected that one of her kids may have dropped the camera or pushed in the lens. I don't remember which lens error number had shown up, but I dis-assembled the camera to find out what the deal was. If I remember correctly, there is a way to manually turn the gears to put he lens back out. I left the lens out and turned it on and it worked perfectly. Fair warning though. It is VERY IMPORTANT not to touch the contacts for the flash EVEN WITH THE BATTERIES OUT!!! God did it hurt like hell... unfortunately it is fairly easy to do and I must have accidentally done it about 4-5 times while messing with it..
