Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if a blue screen is displayed when attempting to playback video from the camcorder.

  1. Stop the tape.

  4. If the issue is not resolved, stop the tape and remove it from the camcorder.
  5. Clean the video heads of the camcorder using a dry head cleaning cassette.IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions for use provided with the head cleaning cassette. It may be necessary to use the head cleaning cassette more than once per session.

I get a blue screen and won't let me record

The dcr-trv250 has to common problems that apply to your camcorder. Bad iris or bad ccd imager. I've seen about a 100 of each lately. Look into the lens while you turn the power off then back on into camera mode. You will be able to see the iris open. If you don't see it open then it's most likely bad. Your DCR-TRV250 uses a Digital 8 system to record and playback information on its cassette whereas the older Analog 8mm machines used the analog system. Unfortunately the two are incompatible.
