Fan runs, no ignition, no gas smell. E04 on LED. The fan is running louder than normal, but the heater was working up until today.

Code E04 is a fan issue. It might be the fan, a tube or the pressure switch. I hope this helps.

New jandy LxI 400 natural gas pool heater makes a howlering sound which starts after it runs for about five minutes. The noise starts soft and continues to get louder. The noise is loud. Once I shut the...

Your bypass valve is bad. Probably because you did not pay attention to your water chemistry. It is located where the pipes enter the heater. You remove it from the side of the manifold that is outside the heater. It is not a difficult job. Just make sure your pump does not come on while the heater manifold is open!

Heater vents close and it sounds like blower motor gets louder when passing gear is used

You most likely have a vacuum line leak -- could be in a hose run to the vacuum motors which operate the duct doors or various other places. Vacuum drops off when engine is rapidly accelerated which reduces the vacuum the heating system motors receive. The blower motor seems to get louder because the closing of the doors provides the sound of the motor a different (more open) path to your ears.

Plug it in runs fine for a few minutes and cuts off. unplug it for 10 minutes, plug it back in starts to run and cuts off.

If the unit runs for just a few minutes you could have a bad safety switch but you need to make sure you have the correct pump pressure.

Try putting your finger over the pump adjustment screw and see if you hear the heater become louder. If you do not hear a change in the sound of the heater you may have a problem with your end cover or pump pressure.

Neighbor's kerosene tank makes horrible noise at night

The oil lines that run from tank to furnace is acting like a guitar string. As oil is being pumped through the pipe, it is humming. Try placing an old rug on the tank to see if it absorbs the hum.

My hot tub pump is getting loud. And if placed on high I can smell a burning smell, so obviously not being used. I've left it on to keep it heating and the plumber is scheduled for this week. However...

It sounds like the bearings have gone bad in the jet pump. A shaft seal leak will sometimes let water get into the bearings and the motor will get louder and louder. Running it on high can intensify the noise and heat created by bad bearings. Eventually, the bearings will seize and the motor will try to turn and since it can't, it will get really hot. The motor has built in high limits to keep from burning up completely but it will smell like it's burning. I would replace the pump motor and seal, should take care of the problem. The OH may have been caused by the pump not moving enough water to run the heater and tripped the heaters high temp sensor. I hope this helps.
