Question about Sony DAV-C770 System

Won't Play DVDs or Eject Them

I have had this player for several years and love the performance. The other day I went to use it and it "froze" and never recovered. I went through the standard troubleshooting procedure to no avail. Finally, I took the cover off to look for any blown fuses and found only one which was in good shape. Any suggestions? I'd like to at least recover the DVDs that are in it. TIA.

The DVD function just stopped working.

My System just stopped working just when I like to use it most...Christmas! It will not receive or eject what is already in the player. I called Sony and they want me to mail it to Texas repair shop. Charge me 132 USD plus shipping before they even look at it. I luv my system but how can they say it will only be 132USD before looking at it? Is it worth it or will the Dream System speakers work with any other Sony DVD system?

Ronni's solution will retrieve the DVD's in the rack but not in the player itself. I had the same problem- no power or response. I opened it up and got out the DVD's in the rack using Ronni's solution. To get the one in the player remove the three screws on the right side of player portion(with front of unit facing you). Also remove the screw holding down the white "fork" in the very center. Gently pry player unit (black assembly) up and the DVD should slide out of the front easily. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem, while the cover was open I found out a small Ivory stick was broken loose, chances are, it is part of the mechanism and sensors which can allow the DVDs to be moved around and parked on staging area. In order to retrieve your DVDs make sure the power is off, using a plastic screw driver or similar shape tool, turn the pullies on the staging of the DVDs (use the whiles int he middle of the pullies), it work just alike a screw, each turn will bring the DVDs further up, you should be able to retrieve one by one without any damage to it... Good luck. Ronni

My dvd does not play in laptop due to digital copyright problem. what can i do to fix this? no dvd wil play

Copy-protected DVDs prohibit people from copying them, which is piracy. Copying a DVD to sell or even to give away is illegal. You can play copy-protected DVDs in a standalone DVD player or in your computer's DVD drive, as long as your computer's software is up to date. These DVDs will play the same as DVDs that are not copy protected

Press the "Eject" button on your DVD player to open the DVD tray. Set the DVD into the tray, and push the "Eject" button to close the tray. Press the "Play" button on your DVD player, and the DVD will play. b> On a DVD Drive on a Computer Press the "Eject" button on your DVD drive to eject the DVD tray. Set the DVD into the DVD drive, and push the tray in to close it. Click the "Start" tab on your computer's home screen to open the "Start" menu. Click on "My Computer" to open it. Click on the DVD drive to open the DVD. Click on "Autoplay" to play the DVD.

Windows 8 won't play rental dvd

It may seem obvious, but to many it is not. To many new notebook computer owners, it is not as easy as it looks to play DVDs in their new Acer laptops. In my line of work, I get this question frequently. So here are a few quick, simple steps to get you on your way to be able to play DVDs in Acer laptops.

Check to see if your Acer laptop has the capability to play DVDs. It will be branded with the familiar white DVD logo on the outside of the drive. This is located directly side of the laptop and has a button on the DVD drive. If it is not adorned with the DVD logo, you will be limited to only playing CDs. Push the button on your Acer once you have located the DVD drive with the logo. This creates a springing motion to eject the DVD drive. Place any DVD face up in the tray and gently push it back into your Acer laptop and then wait for it to start automatically or for a menu to appear. If the DVD in your Acer laptop will not start automatically, (or when you see the menu of choices) you will need to set it up to play automatically. In Microsoft Windows, click start, control panel, hardware and sound and then select autoplay. If you have Windows Vista Home Basic Edition, Windows Media and Real Player may not play the DVDs correctly. You may want to download a free media player from download.com. http://download.cnet.com/2000-20_4.html Place a tick in either windows software or the all software box on the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for IE: Media Player you might have to try a few times to get it right You will then have to manually play the DVDs each time. Choose the action you wish Windows to perform each time you play a DVD on the acer laptop(from the dropdown menu). You will have at least two media players to choose from, or you can simply choose "take no action" which is good if you are not using the media player choices in that menu. Eject the DVD and reinsert it into your Acer laptop. All your DVDs should now play successfully with your chosen media player each time. Locate the controls on the bottom of your screen. They are standard DVD controls as well as a counter should you need to adjust volume or pause the DVD. You can press F11 for full screen view if you no longer need controls and are ready to watch your DVD.

My 2002 nissan altima ate my cd and won't play or eject it. Instead it makes a grinding sound. I love that cd and would love to listen to cds in my car in the future! Please help

there seems to be a serious problem with the CD player, unfortunately your CD has gone to CD heaven, as for the CD player it may be cheaper to replace it than to repair it.......hope this helps......cheers.

Dvd player will not open disc, display lock

Sound like it either has one or two problems, the door is stuck and or the door eject motor has failed. Look in the front to the player for a small paperclip like hole, and use a paper clip to manual eject the and engage the loading mechanism usually located under the door for most cases. Check you manuals troubleshooting section for manually ejecting a CD..

WILL MY DVD PLAY AREA 1 AND AREAV4 DVD'S?

Hi camonk2004,

It's interesting that your DVD player was purchased in Russia but plays Region 1 DVDs. Region 1 is North America. Does your Player also play Russian DVDs (region 5)? If so, then it has probably been modified to play DVDs from multiple regions.

Check the back side of the DVD player - the rear panel should have a Region number on it. If the region number is 1, then try playing a Region 5 DVD. If it reads the DVD, then the modification that was done in Russia will probably allow it to read any DVD. IF the Region 5 DVD won't play (or if it is ejected automatically), then your player's region control os still intact, and it will only play DVDs from the same region as the one listed on the rear panel of the player (or DVDs marked "ALL").

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind Regards,
H2H

What studio label? Some Newline DVDs appear to have some new protection, newer than the Sony ArcOS protection (or whatever it is called).
