Question about Altec Lansing ADA 885 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

I don't know how to properly hook up to an HP m9060n computer.

Can ADA885 hook up to my 9060? The 9060 has an audio line out, a digital our connector, a side speakers connector, Rear speakers connector, and a Center/Subwoofer connector. I've tried various combinations without success. Can you guide me?

Buy a 35 mm.-to-RCA audio cable. Connect the RCA end of the cable to the RCA(L/R) AUDIO OUT jacks on the back of your TV and the 3.5 mm end of the cable to one of the two 3.5 mm. LINE IN jacks at the top of the boombox.

I have old Boston BA735 digital speakers that I am trying to get to work with a new HP PC. Do I need drivers? There are 6 places to plug in speaker cables on the back of the PC. Which ones do I use?

Many of the new sound cards and especially sound cards on OEM do not support digital speakers without buying additional connectors. (Not sure why. I have these same great speakers for years and they are wonderful.
- Check if your sound card ha an SPDIF connection option. - Check the speakers in the device manager to see if you can toggle the "digital" option. - I also have read that some versions of the BA 735 have an analog option on the back of the subwoofer if you need to bypass digital. (mine don't, so I don't know if this is accurate)

1. This is how your computer looks like at the back notice red rectangle are your speaker ports. Look for the green port at the back

And this is how the speaker looks like at the back. Just hook up the green connector at the green jack. hook up the plug for your speaker you are all set.

Thank You
for choosing

Hooked up to my Mac computer but not working help no sound light on help

What sort of speakers are they, USB connected or Line-out connected?
On your Mac, open System Preferences (from the Apple Menu or from the Dock), locate Sound (normally the last icon in the second row) and it will list all the available audio outputs available to you. Mine lists "Internal Speakers - Line Out - Digital Out - Soundflower". If I had the HK Soundsticks with the USB connection they would be listed as well.
Select the output that is appropriate to the speakers you have and check that the volume is set away from zero and that should be that.
If you have USB connected then check USB, if they are normal speakers with an iPod headphone type connector then check line out.
Make sure that any lights on the speakers are on and the volume know is set half way.
If there are no lights on the speakers (and I don't know of any that don't have at least one indicator light) then the problem lies with the speakers.
Report back and let us know what happens.

Logitech R-20 connection method

Either way you should be fine. Notebooks have the proper connectors to hook up an external speaker system to them. Just hook up the 1/8" connector with the green end to the green 1/8" female audio port and you're set to go.
