Bright points on my DV4000 Display

Hi there
I bought a DV4000 from a Friend some time ago but i didnt touch it four about 4 Monthes. Yesterday i went to try to repair it and i noticed a bunch of bright white points on the Display that weren't there four Monthes ago.
Do you have any Idea why those Bright points appeared from nowhere? Is there a way to repair the Display and make them disappear? In worst case, is there a way to enmask it a little maybe playing with the colors?
Please i really need help on this one, i would be very greatfull.
Thank you

Peter Saints

Re: Bright points on my DV4000 Display

Hey, Picas!
So you have a pixel problem, huh? OK, you said a "bunch" of white points. How big is this bunch? Are they all in 1 area or are they scattered around?
There are a couple of things that you can do that may help. First, you can try to massage them away. You find a cloth that is soft enough that it won't scratch the face of the LCD. Then you wrap this around you finger, press somewhat firmly and "massage" the area where the problem pixels are located. Some people use a quarter rather than their finger.
The second thing that you could try is to run a screen exerciser that I found online. But, I don't remember where I got it. If you send me your e-mail address, I'd be happy to sent it to you. It's a small exe file that lets you do a number of things to your screen, and supposedly will help by repairing pixels. I've not had a chance to try fixing pixels with it yet, but have used it for other purposes.

I have problems with my quick touch buttons. The volume will adjust itself randomly, locking the mouse etc.. Also the wifi button will stop responding sometimes and randomly start working again.

Try this,

1. Click combination of buttons on your keyboard Windows+R -> Type MSCONFIG -> OK -> Continue -> Go to Startup Tab in the System Configuration -> Uncheck "HP Quicktouch On Screen Display Item" -> Restart Your computer.

It disables the on screen display of the volume control.

If this helpful, please give a testimonial and vote by pressing button four thumbs up

Hi..i am using compaq presario cq 40 and screen is flickering.i had it checked and they told me lcd is the problem but they didnt even bother to check.they just turned it on and they told me that i have to...

When it flickers, can you still see the text when the screen goes dark?
May have to use a bright flashlight set right on the display to see
the text on the screen beside where the light sits.
That will tell you if it's the backlight.

You can also look at a grazing angle into one of the edges to see if the
backlight is flickering when the display does.
When it's cold, does it start with a slight pinkish color? That can be
a sign of backlight going bad.
Anything interesting happen when you flex the cable by moving the screen?

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I've never seen software cause
consistent screen flicker. And if the vga port doesn't flicker, sw is
even less likely the problem.

If you bet the odds, you'd bet on a bad display cable.
Won't hurt to try replugging it.

If that doesn't help, then your monitor may be dying....

One of my friends did something to my computer and i think it inverted the colors. i had to change the display settings to actuall see the screen but now certain colors, or it might just be white or black,...

Right-mouse click anywhere on your "desktop wallpaper".
Click Properties.
Did your friend change a "theme", via the 'Theme' tab?
Did your friend change something via the 'Appearance' tab?
Did your friend change the 'Settings' (down to 4 or 16 colors) ?

If you connect an external monitor to the VGA-output port,
do you get the same colours, or do you get "proper" colours?
If you get "proper" colours, it could be that your internal LCD screen is damaged.

If all else fails,
click Start
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Click System Tools
Click System Restore

Select a "restore point" one or two days ago, before your friend touched your computer, and "restore" your computer to that date/time.

A thin line appears in the display

It could be the video card or the LCD display is going bad. I would suggest contacting HP support regarding this matter. Hopefully you registered it with them when you bought it. Most computers have a one year warranty from the manufacturer. Did you buy an extended warranty with this machine? If you have an extended warranty from the place you bought it, contact them.

DV4000 display is in XGA mode does not fill the screen

Please check the unit with the external monitor>If the External monitor works fine >Its an issue with the LCD of the unit you can replace it

If the External monitor is also actining in the same way>It could be an issue with the system board.

After all the driver updates this is the finall step,

If not possibel to replace the LCD, try to reinstall the OS

HP Pavilion dv4000 touchpad problem

Im having the same problem. It didnt start until i had to turn my lap top upside down and such trying to get the battery to work, taking it in and out and so forth.

I push down on the left hand side by the touch pad and it works fine. If i dont press down, my typing will not show, music will not play, the whole pc freezes even the time on it.
