SOURCE: I Have a Dewalt DC385 type 2 Reciprocating saw.

REMOVE THE BLADE !!!! take the handle apart and lift out the switch. keep track of the lock slide button and how it is installed. unplug the switch wires. carefully touch the wires you just unplugged onto the battery terminals. these wires lead directly to the motor. BEWARE.. if the motor components are good , the saw will run at FULL SPEED. you only need to tap the wires, DO NOT jamb them onto the battery. If the motor runs then most likely the switch is bad. If you know how to use a continuity tester then you can also check the switch. Bad moter likely culprtet is the brushes are crapped out.

SOURCE: Reciprocating saw stops reciprocating

your missing a tooth on a large round gear in the gearbox.

when the gear on the engine rotates into the position where the little engine gear spins because there is no tooth to come into contact with the engine runs but the gearbox doesnt spin, hence no reciprocation, but engine runs.

if you bump the blade it will start going again, but when you cut it will stop offasionally in mid cut. you can repair this but stop using it the engine gear will be destroyed otherwise

I have a dewalt dw303 that you can use for parts, I need a new trigger or something the motor is dead and I found a new saw. go to craigslist.org, rochester ny tools section and look for dewalt dw303 that is my listing. for ten bucks ill sell you all the gears you need. i think it is close to the same model, i am sure it is the same gearbox.

try opening your gearbox, im positive that is what is wrong.

SOURCE: stopped working in mid drill. squeeze the trigger, nothing happens

It could be a dirty switch connection in the trigger assembly , it happens to me on my electric sanders all the time , just open it up and try blowing it out with an air compressor

in the fuel tank is a gas filter and a fuel line. replace both.
the line gets soft with age and collapse and restricts fuel flow.
while u are at it replace the other two fuel lines as well. easy to get to when u have the cover off.

How do i change blade on dewalt dw303 reciprocating saw

Open the yellow tab on the side of the blade guard and lift the blade out. Install a new on and close the tab. If the blade has been damaged, it may need to be pried off the locating pin at the attachment point.

What is the problem when a dewalt reciprocating saw (cordless) losses power

I am assuming you are refuring to the battery life. To be honest with you it is not a new problem. The Sawzall uses more power than the battery can store, so there don't last.

If this is a new problem for you that you are noticing less power with fresh batteries., They could be bad batteries. Barrow someones, if you can and see.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have any further questions or if that this did help you.
