My HP media center Running windows 7 says BOOTMGR missing on start

There are a number of possible causes for BOOTMGR errors, including the most common "BOOTMGR is missing" error message.

The most common reasons for BOOTMGR errors include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors an outdated BIOS and damaged or loose IDE cables

Anothe reason you might see BOOTMGR errors is if your PC is trying to boott from a hard drive or flash drive that is not properly configured to be booted from. In other words, it's trying to boot from a non-bootable source. This also would apply to media on an optical drive or floppy drive that you're trying to boot from.

make sure there are no disks in cd floppy usb drives

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs data and power to travel through every working device and to continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
also make sure you have set it boot from you hard drive in BIOS

hope this helps you

An unmountable boot volume error suggests that you may have a hard disk failure or at least some corruption to the hard disk which the system uses to boot Windows XP.
To try to resolve this problem you would need to use a specialist boot CD to try to repair the disk errors. One such disk is Hiren's Boot CD which can be downloaded as a CD image file (.ISO) then would need to be burnt on to a blank CD then the computer booted from this CD.
On the initial Hiren's boot menu, select DOS programs, then select Disk tools before selecting HDAT2 to perform the disk repair actions.
HDAT2 can take some time to complete depending on the size of your internal disk drive and the number of bad sectors or other errors encountered - the tool will attempt to repair bad sectors by reading, verifying, writing and re-reading / verifying the data.
If the disk can be recovered, then you may be lucky and the system will be able to boot but otherwise, you may still need to do some further recovery work for the operating system, in which case you may need a Windows install CD or other recovery CD media.

If HDAT2 finds a lot of unrecoverable errors then you should seriously consider replacing the drive - you should be able to recover data from the old drive using other tools on the Hiren's Boot CD, including booting the CD mini-XP environment and using the tools there too.

The computer takes really long to start up..sometimes it freezes and takes long to respond.

That sounds like you have errors a fuul hard drive and/or memory problems.
When it has booted up, I presume you are running Windows of some sort, run CHKDSK/F from the start menu.
Then reboot and go into the BIOS menu. Find Memcheck and tick it.
Re boot and let it check the memory for errors.
If there are problems with the memory, replace as required.
Re boot and run Defrag.
If the hard drive is more than 80% full it will not run very quickly and a fresh larger hard drive would help.
Hope that helps.

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. file\boot\bcd status 0xc000014c info an error occurred while reading the boot configuration data.

Check the hardware connectivity of your Hard drive and Cd rom drive. Check if the wires are plugged properlyand are not loose. This error is generally thrown when your system is not able to find the boot sector in other words it is not able to find all he information (all necessary file pointers, kernel info And Master Boot Record etc) which it needs to start the system.

In most cases this is a temporary issue and occurs due to loose connections of the cables from Hard drive or CD Rom ( if the system is being booted up from CD).

Internal Hard Drive noise

it only means that your hard drive is experiencing bad sectors and it might become a mechanical problem which eventually the device should be replaced once the hard drive cannot be read or detected anymore. there is no solution to it.. all you have to do is wait.

Computer will not boot up. It is giving a windows 32 error, either file corrupt or missing. I do not have the windows disk to reboot.

One thing you can try doing is taking out your hard drive then connecting it to another windows computer. After you've connected and booted the machine, run chkdisk.

Also check out this website, although you don't have the windows cd, if you have another windows computer this should do the trick:

It says to use a floppy, but you can also put those files on a USB drive and boot from that.

Want to totally clean hard drive to sell computer

All hard drive manufacturers have utilities you can download from their web sites that will write all zeros to your hard drive from a bootup environment.

Then if you get a hold of a copy of Hiren's Boot CD, you boot to this from your CD/DVD drive and select Hard Drive utilites and there is a program called wipe disk.

A free program called GDISK, will wipe a drive according to DOD standards. It doesn't com with a boot loader you can use to boot from your CD/DVD drive, you need to use Nero Express to create a bootup disc using the built in boot image from Nero, add GDISK to it and then once you've booted up, you type the command
gdisk /?
And you will subsequently see command line codes to do a disk wipe. Through trial and error you'll get this right unless you are already comfortable with command line structure.

Hiren's is the best tool and invaluable to have around.
You can find the home page for it here.
