Question about Frigidaire FRS3R5EMB Side by Side Refrigerator
I was the guest who wrote about the cracked cam plastic on the freezer door hinge above. I found that the replacement hinge part was $50 and said no way. I unscrews the bolt and allowed the cracked parts to come together again and use JB Weld to make sure it all will stay in place. Let it cure for a few hours and then wound the hinge back into alignment carefully with the holes and tightened it up again. Now when my family slams the right to the left door opens a bit but closes again like it should. It used to stay open. The hinge is designed to pull the door closed when it is almost closed but not work against you when it is open wide.
If you want a picture of how a glued it let me know. HarryF

I have a Fridgidare side by side and just found out exactly why mine started doing this. There is a spring that is supposed to help keep it closed that works with the top left hinge and the plastic that connects the spring to the hinge and the door has fractured. It is under the decorative cover. They want 50 bucks for the replacement assembly. I am going to try to glue my parts back together tomorrow with JB weld. There is an opening between the left and the right and this is where the pressure normally can push the left door open when you shut the right door open. There are other things that could be wrong but this might be something you can inspect for easily by standing on a chair and taking off the cover. If you have the same cracked plastic under the hinge then I can tell you if my solution works for me.

To be honest with you, close the door more gently. there are air vents between the frig and the freezer, when you close the frig door its forcing air into the freezer which in turn forces the door open some. the air has to get out so thats what it does. i hear this complaint alot.
