Try Initializing the Camera as follow; Initializing
the Camera will reset the settings of the Camera to the factory
settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in
the Camera.
1. Touch the HOME and select the SETTINGS menu in the Camera.
2. Now, please select the MAIN settings menu.
3. Then select the INITIALIZE option under the MAIN Settings 1 menu.
Option 2:
If issue persists try Power reset the Camera by removing the battery from the Camera and inserting it after 1 minute.
Option 3:
If the issue still persists then Service may requires to resolve it.
To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation after 3 minutes when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover is open and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode. Operate the zoom button or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left on for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.
This is a very common issue with digital camera on either the lens gears have to be replaced or the lens barrel need replacing. I rebuild these lenses all the time for 75.00 plus shipping and the turn around is normally less then a week. if you still need help fell free to contact me at [email protected]
If the camera is under warranty then return it to seller or get on the Olympus support site- Camera will be replaced
Repairs - Good news - you cant get thing like this repaired. If you go the Olympus as above they will replace it for FREE or offer you a replacement at a reduced charge. These are you only options
If your lens is open and the camera turns off after those dreaded beeps, I have a fix for your problem. Basically, for this model of camera, the lens first pushes out a bit and then it retracts into the camera. Well, my lens got stuck on the pushout and it prevented the camera from turning on. I used some finger pressure and wiggled the lens a bit. Then I turned it on and it retracted to where is was supposed to be to take pictures. Then I turned it off and it retracted into the camera. Problem solved!
