do these things with some secure tool such as Intel Software Partner Reginout.

Hello sir, there are several reasons why a computer hang;

  1. Bad memory, if you are using windows 98, replace your old memory module with a good one, if you cant find one, go online and seach for one, you may try to go to a computer shop that sells surplus goods.
  2. Bad Sector on your hard disk. As your PC reads the hard disk, it may come across a part of the disk that is bad, making your computer read it several times, until finally hang.
  3. Overheating, make sure your PC is properly ventilated, check all fans, there is one on the power supply.
  4. If you have trouble installing the Operating System, check your memory module (the no. 1 on my list) and your Windows 98 installer.
  5. about your graphics installer, you can go to www.driverguide.com for your driver needs, just take note of your graphics card manufacturer and model number of your card. Example Trident Cyber 9397.
hope this helps. thanks let me know your progress.

My computer is hanging

there are many reasons why computers hang, i will site some
examples and possible solutions:

it hangs probbly because you open a program or application that
is out of the capability of your pc, refer to your computer specification
and compare it to the specification require of the program or application you might want to install or run in your computer.

Another thing, computer might hang because it has full of junk files, something like temporary files saved from internet, there might also some registry values in your pc that is not needed and causes some
error or trouble that leads to hanging. All of this junk files and registry
should be cleaned or deleted. Try to download and install "CCleaner"
from Filehippo.com.

Hope all of this will help to everyone...Thanks

Inspiron 531 random hang ups during normal window operations - widows freeze for ~1minut (or more), Widows Vista was installed in factory.

Start up the "Task Manager" by right clicking on the task bar at the bottom and choosing "Task Manager".
Click on "Processes" and then click on the "CPU" tab in the middle and make sure the arrow is pointing down.

This will show you what is spiking your processor. More than likely you will see "spoolsv.exe" utilizing 90+% of the CPU. If this is the case, here are some steps to resolve it. If it is not the case and you see something else utilizing the CPU, other than System Idle, you may want to uninstall and reinstall that software. If the computer is still hanging and nothing is spiking the CPU, your best bet would be to do a hard drive diagnostics and/or memory diagnostics. Also look at the numbers down at the bottom and if your Physical Memory is around 80%, you may want to stop some programs from starting up when your computer boots up.

Here are the steps to resolve the spoolsv.exe spiking problem in Vista:

Click on "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Services"
Scroll down and look for "Print Spooler".
Right click on "Print Spooler" and click on "Stop"
Close the Services and Administrative Tools windows
Click on "Start" > "Computer" > "Local Disk (Default setting)" > "Windows" > "Spool".
Delete all .SHD and .SPL files in this folder.
Reboot your system.

Hanging problem

  1. Dirt and clogged fans vents and Heatsinks - When your CPU overheats it will either slowdown to a crawl then hang before shutting down.
  2. Virus and Spyware infection - These nasties tend to run processes that will either slowdown your PC will hang if you run out of resources.
  3. Heavily fragmented drive - throughout the time that your PC is running every time you access a file it tends to settle in a different location than where it originally was. fragmented files launch slower if you run out of resources while the file is launching PC will freeze.
  4. Too many programs running at once or too many startup items are loading in your taskbar. - Startup programs run continously while PC is on leaving you with little to barely enough resources to work with.
  5. Insufficient Memory,CPU or Hard Drive capacity - these three are the heart and soul of your computer they need breathing rooms so their capacities dont get exhausted by normal PC usage.
  6. Failing hardware components and faulty hard drive. - When your PC runs out of memory room it uses the spare space in your hard drive it's called the Page File. If your hard drive is faulty your PC will have problems accessing the Page File it will then Hang.
These are the most common causes of hanging.

If that stuff does nt solve your prob please provide more detail and check your hardware to see if no pins etc are broken

Laptop hanging and slow internet access

The lag that you are experiencing is most likely due to lack of available memory. Try clicking on start, then click run. Type in "msconfig" without the quotation marks and then press enter. Click the "Start Up" tab and that will show a list of programs that are starting with windows. Uncheck any of the programs that you do not need running all of the time, this will greatly help speed up the computer. I also recommend that you scan for spyware/adware. As for speeding up the internet, the only thing you can really do is switch to a faster service. Choosing a different browser that is slimmed down (Opera) may help a little.
