Question about Creative Labs Zen Micro MP3 Player

Creative zen micro

I have a creative zen micro that i bought about two years ago and the battery just recently drained all the way and the player won't reboot. I figured the battery was dead, so I plugged it in and all I got was the creative logo screen then a blank screen. The backlight stayed on for a little bit, but shut off after a minute or two.
Is it the battery?
or the hard drive?

Re: creative zen micro

Same problem with my first Zen. It's the battery. Now I keep a couple for spare batteries charged and ready to go. It's not the hard drive unless you've really whacked your Zen hard into a solid object.

My brother's MP3 player is messed up. When you boot it, it automatically goes to recovery mode. Here, it tells you the firmware and gives me a couple options: Recovery Mode Creative Zen Micro...

Couple things to try.

Let the battery drain completely, then do a full charge and try again.

When turning it on, don't hold the ON slide, just slide it to ON then let it go. Holding it will send it into recovery and reset mode.

My CREATIVE ZEN Micro doesn't play any media after i accidentally dropped it. Is there hope?

1. Ensure that the player is turned off

2. Remove the battery.

3. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert

the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue

mode appears.

4. After 2-3 seconds the rescue menu will be displayed.

At this point the battery can safely be replaced and maintenance options

5. Four options will be displayed on the LCD screen:

? Clean Up - (To rearrange your stored data)

? Format All - (To format and remove all data)

? Reload Firmware - (Reloads your player's operating system - Do not

choose this option unless you have downloaded a firmware update from the

Creative website)

? Reboot - (Restarts your Player)

6. Select the Clean Up and then the Reboot option.

Now, please try turning off the player.

when your mp3 player keeps turning of that means that there is no more juice in the battery and that it is time to go pick up a new battery, also if your mp3 player is not charged and it wont hold a charge you can try another USB cord!

Creative Zen Micro

vista is not supported . you can try this:
you should not have had to install anything for the Zen to work on Vista. If you have installed any Creative software, remove it. Reboot, plug your player in, open Device Manager, and remove the device that shows up representing your player (completely uninstall it). Reboot again, and plug in your player. It should be recognized now.

If that still doesn't work, then boot your player into Recovery Mode, and perform both a Disk Cleanup and a Reformat. Reboot the player and try plugging it in again.
if it still doesn't try another computer and upload the latest firmware to it and then try it on your pc after firmware is loade

Is it my battery or bad system?

I had the same problem a few years ago. Creative said that it was due to connecting the player to a lead that was plugged in to a socket which was already turned on. They recommended pluging in the player, then turning on the socket. They also had downloadable firmware to fix this problem.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, your hard drive is damaged. You should buy another player, since microdrives are so expensive.
