We had a thunderstorm last night and power blinked for a second or two, but never went off for any amount of time. Later, I discovered that a couple of my breakers were tripped (sockets & lights) and I reset those just fine. My Kenmore Range (Model 95002102) had no lights on the control panel so I checked the 40 amp breaker for it and it was thrown. I reset it and now the surface elements work, but there is nothing mon the display and there is no power to the oven light when I open the door. Any ideas?

Hi There,

It certainly seems like you got a large power surge. Something may have been fried on your oven control panel. The trouble is circuit breakers are meant to trip when there is an overload or short circuit situation. Good ones will also detect an earth leakage problem to save us humans from being electrocuted.

Unfortunately in general they are not surge protectors. That is they will not trip quick enough to save your appliances if 10 zillion volts suddenly comes down the wire.

I think you are going to need a service technician for this one.

Good luck

Doug.

try unplugging your t.v for 10-20 seconds. plug it back in. if your power light continues to flash your t.v is the issue. you should be able to google your issue or check your owners manual about the problem. unplugging the t.v is the last ditch effort. Good Luck!

My sony wega keeps cutting off then coming back .

a couple of years old can be a long time:

has the TV been on 24\7

It's the amount of hours that matters..

electrolytic capacitors typically last 3000 to 5000 hours....

Special "long life" caps last close to 7000
but the caps in most consumer electronics, even broadcast equipment 3-5K hours.

No picture and no sound

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
