Question about Toshiba 36A43 36" TV
I have sound but the screen is black?
Hi, those sets are pretty infamous for vertical problems, you probably need the IC replaced or you don`t have the B+ supply voltages getting to the IC, the only way to confirms this is to increase your screen control a little bit clockwise and if you see a bright white line running from L to R across the screen you will have confirmed that the vertical circuit has failed, NOTE, do not run the set for more than 10 seconds this way it WILL burn the picture tube. Hope this helps

Try hooking the tv up to the back with the right cords. Turn off 1st and replug the tv and turn back on.

If you can get the tv to display the blue blackground(usually happens when there is no antenna or cable feed to tv) check to see if the whole screen is a solid blue, if it shows discolored areas around the screen then you might have to "demag" the screen. See if you can rent a demad coil from a tv shop and with tv on turn the coil in circular movements all over the front of screen till blue is solid.good luck!
