Question about Dell E193FP 19" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor goes off and on

Usually at the end of the day after being on 9-10 hours the screen will go black for a second then come back for 25 seconds then go black. It will do this for 5-10 minutes and then be fine for the rest of the work day. Any ideas? Steve

Yes your backlight is going bad! This is common with an LCD monitor! There are no guarantees with these new items! Sorry I hope that this helps! When a backlight goes bad it will generate enough light to display an image, but it will not hold that charge for very long, it varies based on the manufacturer who sells the Montior!

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

Screen cutting out

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

More likely to be in the power supply/inverter baord: http://www.lcdrepair.us/E228WFPc-inverter-power.html

Look for bad caps first, but it can also be in the lamp assembly, you will need lamp tester and inverter tester to verify that.

Samsung monitor picture clicks off after 2-5 seconds...

Yes, It sounds like the backlight inverter circuit is shutting down. No inverter power, no backlight. On some monitors the inverter circuit will shot circuit the power power supply which makes the power light flash on some it just kills the backlight. You can usually check with a flashlight. Hold the flashlight pointed at the screen and see if you can see any of the icons or background picture. If you can then it is the backlight circuit or backlight tubes, usually the circuit.

Screen goes black after a few seconds

Problems like these happen all the time with LCD monitors. Usually one of two things. Bad Capacitors or a bad backlight. To check this, take a flashlight and point at your monitor (usually at a high angle) and see if you can still see the desktop faintly. If so then its either the back light or capacitor. Backlights shouldnt need replaced too often as they have a extremely long lifespan. Capacitors are relatively cheap and easy to replace, all is required is a soldering iron and an inexpensive trip to a Radio Shack. Though this isnt your monitor, it is a very good tutorial on how to go about replacing the capacitors.http://www.wizardanswers.com/liquidvideorepair.html If it is the backlight, here is another tutorial for that :D http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/shorts/lcdfix.aspx

Monitor problem: screen goes black, then comes in scrambled

It sounds like this one needs component-level troubleshooting, probably in the power supply section. One or more backlights may be going out, too.
