Cable Card Problems Toshiba 52HM95 model

Has anyone recently bought a HD TV that requires a cable card and experienced lost of channel memory, or channels that can not be turned in. My HD channels are in the 800's ie HBO 815,Showtime 824 ect. After contacting Toshiba and updating firmware there still is a problem, they are aware of the problem but there is no immediate fix. I have owned the TV for about 90 days and am considering to ask Toshiba to buy it back, they told me that other manufactures are experiencing the same problems. They said to fax a copy of the sales receipt to them and they would take a look at it. I would expect to be fully re-imbursed for the TV, delivery, and cable card set up charged to me buy the cable company. Thanks Tom I have a 42 inch Cable Card Toshiba.  I had it 8 months and my channels started disappearing.  I started calling Toshiba in June and they have updated the firmware but it did no good.  On Saturday I was out for about a 1/2 hr and when I came home and turned on the tv guess what -  no channels.  Paul is the guy in charge of the Cable Card division and I have been waiting 2 weeks for him to get back to me, I called today and nobody knows where he is.  They won't give me his last name, his bosses name or the name and phone number of the company president.

Re: Cable Card Problems Toshiba 52HM95 model

A good rule of thumb with cable cards is,,if the card doesn't work try a second one,,if that one won't work try a third,,and so on..most of the time it is not the set it is the card that won't work correctly..many television companies have left the cable card slot out of the currect line because of this..a cable box is more reliable

Using a cable splitter i have one cable going to the modem and the other going to other tv. The problem is the other tv is stuck on one channel that is different than the first tv

Most cable systems today scramble their digital signals in such a way as to require the use of a "cable card" (for TVs that support them) or a set-top decoder box. Hooking up directly to the cable on most cable systems today won't get you much of anything in the way of channels regardless of the type of tuner you have installed. They do this to ensure that you are paying a fee for each set that is connected to the cable (the rental fee for the card or box).

What is the best converter box to use with toshiba regza 42hl67 flat screen tv?

As far as I can make out, this Toshiba model is made for the US market so doesn't actually have a freeview tuner. It will only receive satellite and cable HD signals and local US TV, all of which has to be bought. You need to get something like an August DVB400 - HD Freeview Set Top Box -Digital PVR Tuner with USB TV Recording, eBay would be best I think, where they are sold for under £30.00. The tuner packed up on my 32" Regza so I bought one of these and it works fine. Plus you can record to a USB stick if you don't want to miss a programme. Hope this helps ......BS

In just bought new Toshiba regza 40" Lcd tv and auto tuned it, but the picture is terible , snowy and colours are not good, what to do...

First of all reset the TV. for that

press and hold the POWER button
on the TV control panel for 5 or more seconds to reset the TV.
Then connect the TV tt any source like outdoor areiel or cable box etc, select the appropriate input, and retune the TV. First of all, connect it to an external antenna, and set it to autotune.

You must configure the ANT/CABLE input source before

programming channels (-left-hand column).

If the ANT/CABLE input signal type is set to Cable, the

automatic channel programming process erases channels

that were previously programmed into the TV's memory.

If the ANT/CABLE input signal type is set to Antenna, the

automatic channel programming process adds newly found

channels to the existing set of programmed channels (and

does NOT erase channels that were previously

programmed into the TV's memory.) To remove an Antenna

source channel from the memory, you must manually delete

To tune the TV to a channel not programmed in the channel

memory, you must use the Channel Number buttons on the

remote control.

Programming channels when the ANT/CABLE input is

configured for Cable will take substantially longer than when

the antenna input is configured for Antenna. This is normal;

however, once channel programming is finished, you should

not have to repeat the programming process again unless
your Cable TV service lineup changes significantly.
Find out the received channels are clear or not. If they are clear, your TV is perfect, and the input device you connects ot the TV is faulty. OK.

My toshiba 62 in.HD tv with cable card did receive the built in TV guide with cable chanel number and a brief description of what the program is about untill May of 2009. Comcast has repetedly told me to...

the tv guide is kind of like a computer application. so the cable box can run that application or function. the cable card is an add on to your digital tuner which allows for the bits/codes to be descrambled. there are so many manufacturers of cable tv converters that it would be nearly impossible for sony or panasonic or toshiba to have an internal operating system to run the guide application. you may have bought a mac but the service is written in windows, for example. unfortunately the technology is simply not there for a cable card to do more than unscramble the digital signal. and inside that cable box from the cable company IS a cable card.....
