2-yr old unit is leaking

The unit is leaking from under the bottom of the front door. It appears to happen during later stages of the normal wash cycle (the only cycle I use) not during initial operation. Gasket problem? Maybe the water discharge opening is clogged? Any ideas?

Re: 2-yr old unit is leaking

I had this problem with similiar model, the extended warranty company was out several times, replaced gaskets and many other parts. Still had the problem. The last tech replaced the upper washing arm that hangs below the upper rack, He said there was a defect where water shoots out between the mfg welded seam and shoots water at the door in the right spot to make it leak. He replaced it and haven't had the problem for about 8 months.

I have a kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDMOITJBLO installed as new unit in Oct. 2002 in a new home. Current problem is water coming from front door, bottom as unit starts wash cycle after filling. Leak is...

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.I would start by removing the outer door panel remove the screws around the inner door to do this. Then close the door and start a cycle. Sometimes you can see obvious signs of leaks just by removing the panel too. But if not let it run and see if you see water leaking anywhere. You will see water in the bottom corners its normal. If water is splashing over those corners the check the lower spray arm gor damage or cracks it can cause this problem also make sure the screws under the spray arm are tight. also check the upper arm.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

My 10 yr old 1895b leaks during the drying cycle

The most common issue on these units is the door seal. The seal around the door will break down over time not sealing real well. You would need to order and replace the door seal to fix this issue on this unit.

Take a long shot. Say your mains leak a little, quite possible, and you machine's inlet solenoid valve leaks a bit, say about a litre a day - you probably would not notice it during the normal course of events, in a week it would leak about 7 litres into the machine, in the second week it would have about 14 litres in it, about at the level of the door and not seen by the house visitor. The next week it would leak another 7 litres - all over the floor. Now it would be noticed?

10 yr old Kenmore dishwasher was leaking, cycling ok but dishes are not coming out clean. Took about bottom spray unit, found a split plastic round ring about 1.5" dia. Could this be the problem or what...

The ring fits just under the spray arm and the split is normal. When you tore the spray assembly apart, did you clean the screens at the bottom (if white hard-water deposit, soak in 50:50 hot water and white vinegar)? Make sure none of the ports in the deck are plugged with food deposits. Check both spray arms for plugged spray holes or split seams. The upper arm moves from water pressure alone--no motor. Make sure it spins freely by hand. We had to try different detergents to get away from a gritty deposit on glassware. Did you fix the leaking problem? Inspect the gasket seal around the door for damage or hardness and check the latch for holding the door closed firmly. Hope some of this helps!

The vario motor may be at fault.
The motor switcher the spray from top to bottom.
It is part of the sump assy.

You can tell if it is working if you start the unit and when it is in the wash cycle you can hear the water spraying change from top to bottom every few minutes.

D/W has a full 1 yr warranty and most have a 5 yr part warranty on the sump.

Check your owners guide.
