Re: TV MAXIM 11-54

Seme-nedis can supply repair kits for these sets at reasonable cost. I have fitted the kit and have been very pleased with it.

When powering on tv with remote or the tv power button it clicks on and then right off.

I can tell a long story, but the TV is defect. Would it make any difference what I could tell you it is the main bows, the backlight to the power supply? if not, please contact a tech to a repair shop. First ask them what it will cost, because today net TV's cost less than the ones you bought 1 or 2 years ago. It could be w repair is more expensive than a complete new TV, same size but a better resolution.

Tv repair

It may be possible, but I would need the full model number. What is the problem with the power supply? Depending upon the problem, it may not be worth the cost.
Keep us posted.

No power to my TV when I switch on

It sounds that the main power supply regulator board inside the TV has damaged. You surely must contact any service technician.

Hi, I used to be a TV Technician and I am considering buy a Samsung PS50Q91HD 50"Plasma TV with an alleged Power supply problem. Just wondering how difficult that would be to replace and how...

I would not advise you to buy a non working TV specially when Plasma is moving out and the new technologies with 3D- LED is around bringing the prices down.
Also the cost is not the factor but if there is fault on the mother board then you are stuck and would have wasted money on a junk. So please do not commit UNLESS you can source a power supply unit - SMPS unit - and make sure that it is the ONLY issue. Let the TV work and then after seeing a good picture you can take tbhe risk... but the cost is also important and must be checked out.

I need the reset switch and plug back of tv were plug goes in to tv.

Hi rickrickko

There are a couple of things that could cause this, unfortunately there is no reset for this televisions and it will have an internal failure at this point. I will try to explain the possibilities the best I can.
First you could have a failure in the power supply, we have seen some capacitors fail in your model and cause funky problems like this. If this is the case you could be looking at somewhere around $175-$200 to fix the set. IF the power supply had to be replaced you could be looking at $350

Next could be the main board, this would not be good news because you could be looking at $400-$500 for the repair (I know this is up there in the price range and most likely getting over the cost of a new set)

Lastly you could have a problem with the panel itself, this would mean a new set for sure because the part cost is more than a new set. The panel in your tv is about $800 just for the part.

TV won't turn on. When I try to turn it on it quickly turns back off.

its the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the tv there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop, but if otherwise
Power supply board have problems, just not dead yet.Replaced the power supply board, will solved this problems.Tries websites like, to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Hope this helps.....

TV power supply burnt out

If you can read the numbers on the power board, sometimes really obscure and have the model number of your tv, you can contact the manufacturer and see if you can buy the power board directly. If not, contact a local tv shop and read the part number off to the tech and give him the make and model and see if he can locate it for ya. some of these parts have lifetime warranties so check with your manufacturer. hope this helps, j

Power supply

Its possible that it is the power supply. If you wanted me to take a loot at it I could but you would need to remove the power supply from the TV and ship it to me. The power supply has been a common fail point of TV's, VCR's and other home electronics in the past several years. Let me know if this is something you would like to discuss further. I just need contact info.
