I think you will find that the error relates to the heating element.
E14 on the Hotpoint WM75E means that there is a problem with the water heating.

manual said electrical / mechanical. As it's to do with the CD it's probably mechanical. not a lot you could do, Probably the motor is jammed, lens needs cleaning something like that. Best think without opening it up. shoot some air down into the CD slot

Yes, you can do this yourself.

YOu can do a search on here for the error code, there are instructions on how to reset the error and clean the absorber..

Or you can do a search for the "SERVICE" manual for your printer and order it, then follow it's instructions to clean the pads and reset the error.
