HDMI cable but sound does not work

Do you have all of the AV jacks plugged in? If not, Plug all of them in. If you only have room for two of them, Plug in the yellow one, and the white one. For video games, Plug in the yellow one, and the red one. How old is the TV? Chances are, if the TV is really old, the sound might not work. Or you could try someone who works with TV's. :-)

How do I troubleshoot a problem with no video? Games nor movies play. I hear the disc spinning up, but the video never displays. nor does the sound for that matter, but I assume that is due to the disc no...

Even if it was a bad disc you should boot up to the home menu without problem. I would try replacing whatever type of AV cable you have running from your PS3 to your television. It could be once solid black cable with USB like ports on both ends (HDMI) or a cord with one end split into various colors (AV or Component) If replacing this cord doesn't help you may have a bad connection on one or multiple ports on your system/tv or it could be an internal problem.

I have aony receiver STR AV-880 serial # 803492 left side speaker snowy sound on A and B setting help please

Chances are really good that you need to replace the speaker relay for that side. I recommend replacing all speaker relays. The contacts are dirty. You can get parts from Sony. You will need the relay part number off the top of the relay to order from Digikey or similar parts places. You can try cleaning the relay contacts with a contact cleaner. Sometimes it works.

Xbox 360 Video Problem

HI. Replacing the video cable would also be my first suggestion. The Xbox AV cable has many manufacturing faults. If you are using the original cable tat came with the unit, I suggest to replace it with newer model.

Now, if you experience the same issues after replacing the original AV cable, this will lead to a more serious issue that concerns the HANA chip. This chip is responsible for the transfer of information through the AV cables. The transfer port(the AV cable end that is inserted into the Xbox), is directly connected to this actual chip. If the internal connections to this chip have failed, or are failing, this will be the culprit. The chip will need to be replaced, or the solder joint will need to be resolderd. If this unit is still under warranty, I would suggest to contact Microsoft for a free repair ticket. Do Not open the case if the unit is still under the manufactures warranty. This action will void the warranty.

NOTE_ Try replacing the AV cable first.

No sound from any source

ICheck first the video cable at the back of receiver.

If that does n ot work , then unplug power cord and all cables , wait ten minutes and plug back.

Try replacing the cables at the back.

Try using a different type of connection cable.

If still no luck, then the unit can be faulty.

hmmm, this may be either really tricky or simple as pie. If the Video is coming through but sound isn't the first thing I think of I bad RCA wires that come from the console to the TV (the white and red, yellow is Video) Any chance you have a "back-up" cable to try out?

No Picture on TV

Try replacing the A/V cable. It sounds like that the cable that is for the video is broken. I would replace that first.
