Question about Panasonic KV-S2026C Pass-Through Scanner

Open Question

Scanning large volume of NCR forms and having many difficulties

We are using the Panasonic KV-S2026C scanner for scanning large volumes of forms of which some are NCR paper and are encounctering several problems:
1) What causes the long delay before scanning initializes and actually begins (takes over 8 seconds)?
2) The scanned Tiff image displays crooked / cock-eyed: Is something out of whack with the scanning lens? Is something out of alignment? What is causing this to occur?
3) Is something wrong with the rollers?
4) Sometimes we try to scan in 5-7 forms and one of them is skipped over and doesn't get scanned - and the form is not being pulled in with other forms at the same time? Why?
5) We have used the Panasonic KV-S2025C for scanning forms and not experienced the problems we are now having with these newly purchased KV-S2026C scanners - we need to determine why the scanning is so difficult with this model and why the scanned Tiff image is displaying sideways.
6) The scanned image often displays with "tire marks" down the page and dark, diagonal marks through barcodes - when the form itself looks fine - why is this happening with the scanned image?

Problems when scanning

Good evening ksys,
Let me address these and see if I can be of some help.

1.Many scanners will go into a sleep mode, in an effort to conserve power. I don't know for sure but this maybe an option that can be reset somewhere in the control panel menu. Refer to your user guide in the sections that talk about energy, sleep mode or conservation.

2. The tracks that you see on the printed forms sound like a problem in the photo conductor area. Toner beads (or lint, paper shreds, etc.) will clump up and cause this to happen. If you can get to the photo conductor, a gentle cleaning (usually in the area where the photo conductor is pulled back down into the toner bin) may resolve your problem. In some cases, you may actually see a band or streak of toner on the photo conductor. These can sometime be removed, but if the photo conductor is scratched in that area, the problem will come right back. Any cleaning in this area needs to be done with a very soft, clean, dry cloth. You have to be careful not to scratch the photo conductor, or you will just add to the problem.

3. Yes the skewing problem can definitely be caused by the forms. And NCR paper has always seemed to present problems in printers and scanners. Some machines can be adjusted (usually out of specs) for correction of this problem, but many cannot. Something else that you may look for is any type of buildup on the feed rolls that move the paper into, and through, the machine. Any deposits found on the rollers can usually be cleaned off with 90% rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. If the deposits are dark in color, they could be part of the cause of the verticle streaks that you mentioned. I would have to actually look at the machine(s) in question to determine whether or not this could be done.

Hopefully, this information will be of help and what you were looking for.

Yellow light is blinking and error indicates clean rollers. Rollers have been cleaned but message keeps coming back. No problems scanning.

Panasonic includes a user utility with this model. The utility can be accessed via Start>All Programs>Panasonic. In it you will find a display and reset function for the cleaning count. Sorry I don't have more specifics, its been a while since I worked on any Panasonics.

Scan only in jpg.

If you want to scan in TIFF, you need to scan in monochrome only. (B&W). Change SCanner settings.
