The solution for the base (not the handset) is to press and hold for 2 seconds the "Skip" button (it's marked with ">>").

SOURCE: phone says searching

The battery may be weak. Or it is too far from the base. Try exchanging the two. take the handset near the base and see if it will link.

SOURCE: my Philips Cordless phone answer

The handset is not ‘registered’ with the based unit.
By default, the Master PIN is 0000.

  1. On the base station, press and hold The paging key for approximately 5 seconds.
  2. On the handset, press Menu key,
  3. scroll : to ADVANCE SET and press (Menu) OK,
  4. scroll : to REGISTRATION and press (Menu) OK.
Note: If no action is taken on the handset within 10 seconds, the registration procedure will be aborted. If this happens, repeat Step 1.
  5. Enter the Master PIN when prompted and press (Menu) OK to confirm.

My display on my cordless/corded Phone won't light up. The cordless ones say out of range, or Searching. What can I do?

Is it the base display that won't light up? Can you make a call from the base? do you get a dial tone on the base?

Remove all batteries and unplug it all. Leave it sit for a few minutes. If that does not do anything, then it likely needs repair.

If the base makes a call, but cordless doesn't work, then likley the rf radio is damage by static from the storm.

Welcome to FixYa.

Reset the units/set up by doing the following:
  • Turn OFF all the HANDSETS.
  • Remove the batteries of the HANDSETS.
  • Unplug the power source of the BASE.
  • Unplug the phone line of the BASE.
  • Let it stay that way for 30 mins.
  • Insert the battery again of the HANDSETS, make sure it is charged properly.
  • Plug back the power source of the BASE.
  • Plug back the phone line to the BASE.
  • Register any handset that is unregistered (refer to manual).

Keep me posted.

Our phones keep saying searching, but nothing happens. We tried deregistering the phones and registering again, but it doesn't work. We tried unplugging everything and plugging it in again, but still...

It's likely that the transmitter located in the base station has failed. Your handsets are looking for an answer from that station and not receiving any.
If not still under warranty, it may cost less to replace the whole system than repair the base station even though most of the electronics that makes the system 'cordless' is mostly dependent on a packaged RF module that costs only a few dollars wholesale.

I have a Motorola L404 cordless phone. i bought an additional handset. I cannot get it to register with the base unit. It just keeps saying "registration failed"

On the Motorola L404 series, to deregister all handsets you unplug both the phone and power to the base station. Press and hold the 'find' button while plugging the power back in. The display will show "CL". Continue to hold the find button till the display shows '00' and all the handsets will show 'unregisterd'. You then proceed by registering all your handsets again in the order you want them listed.

BINATONE CORDLESS PHONE

I am sure there is one to download but did not found anything with google... If search engines are of no help, just ask some deep web specialists, e.g. http://manualfox.com - if they don´t find it, it does not exist in the Internet.

GE dect 6.0 cordless phone bought at walmart

We had the same problem.

"Our phones worked fine for two weeks but now you can not dial out
and when someone calls us they can't hear we say. The line still works
fine with our old phone1.gif."

To fix the problem, I simply unplugged the base AC plug from the outlet, waited about 15 seconds, and then plugged it back in. Both handsets said searching on the display and then handset names returned to the display as originally programmed. The phones returned to operation as normal.
