Question about Sony VAIO PCV-W600G PC Desktop

1 Answer

Recovery disk Sony no longer makes the recovery disks for my computer and without them i am unable to fix my computer which was hit with a virus. Do you know where to get one? If anyone is reading this and would be willing to make one off their own computer for me, I would pay them. It is real simple to do and I would encourage anyone who owns this model computer to make one ASAP because if a virus corrupts your built in recovery partition then you will be stuck.

Creepy crawly virus through my grandson download of a "free" games has left windows 7 on in background but basically as wiped 3 years worth of files.

You could in principle note down everything you have installed, perform a system recovery to set the computer back to the factory, from either the Recovery CDs you made when you first got the computer, or from the Recovery partition on your hard disk (which should not be infected) You would then have re-install the other software that you wanted from scratch, either from the original disks, or downloading it from the internet. This includes updates, drivers etc.
One way of reminding yourself of what software you have is to keep a copy of your infected disk to look at (remove your new disk before looking though).
The other thing you could do is try to remove the virus. , either by returning the computer to a professional to do for you, or by yourself, or sign up to one of the many the forums that exist on the internet who will help you e.g.,,,, www.techsupportforum or one of the many others. Volunteers will help you, and direct you to use virus removal tools. It may be a long job and may not always be successful - sometimes the only thing to do is start from scratch (erase your hard disk: try NOT to erase the recovery partition though. If you have lost the recovery partition, and you did not make recovery CDs, HP may supply you with a set of recovery disks if you ask them nicely and give them loot.
Let us know how you fare (in a couple of months....)

Reformat my computer to windows 7

Reformatting a computer will reset it to the factor image, all data must be backed up or it WILL be lost. There are several reasons to reformat a hard drive. A few reasons include but are not limited to: driver issues, virus, cleaning up, getting rid of the computer, etc.

Every new windows 7 owner should know that the new computers are not supplied with recovery disks anymore. The manufacturer allows the user to create one set of disks upon the purchase of a new machine. It is important to create the disks early as driver issues and viruses may arise. In order to create recovery disks on windows 7 you want to click on the start menu. Next, type in recovery in the Start Search option area. Next, click on recovery disk creation and follow the process. It will require that you have about 3 dvds or about 7 cds to create the recovery disk.

Once the recovery disks have been made reformatting windows 7 is quite simple. Insert the recovery disks into the cd/dvd tray on the machine. You are now going to want to turn the computer off. When the computer has turned off, go ahead and turn it back on. A screen should pop up asking you whether you want to boot from Hard Drive or Disk. Choose the disk option. After you make it this far it is a downhill process. Next you follow the on-screen instruction make sure you reformat the machine, not recover it.

I want to take my acer aspire back to the factory setting but dont have a cd how do i do it

Acer are cheap and they don't provide you with a factory restore disk. You need to make this factory disk yourself. I know how to do this, but it is to much for me to type and here is a really really good reference site for you to visit to get instruction to make your own factory restore disk. After making that restore disc,  pop the disk into your laptop and turn of your laptop and restart and the factory restore program should start, if it should not start then go into your bios menu and have it boot from your Dvd-Rom and save, after full restoration, make sure you turn your boot priority back to where your Os is being installed, exm hard drive.

After reinstallion, no emachines recovery/original programs/apps

Your recovery software is usually comprised of more than one disk. You should have one windows disk in addition to the eMachines disk(s). Complete recovery requires that you use all the disks, in order to return to original state. If you are missing programs, it is because you did not use all the disks.

Option A: Go here to order a complete set of recovery disks:

You will need your machine serial number to ensure you obtain the correct recovery disks; they are about 20$ plus shipping.

Option B: Use your eRecovery: Restart the computer and when it begins booting up, you have to hit repeatedly/hold down a key to enter the Recovery management menu. As for the key, it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but try the F10 key for starters. If it's not that one, try the F12, or the F8 key. That should get you pointed in the right direction. Just follow the screen prompts, and choose RECOVERY, not RESTORE. Also make sure you choose Recovery without disks.

Reply if you need more help.

Hope this helps.

AC'97 Audio Codecs Blue screen of death on install please help me fix this problem thanks dell dimension 2350

This usually means your HD has a virus. It could be a boot virus. The best way to get rid of it is to completely reinstall your OS. When you turn on your computer put in your OS software or recovery software (if software recovery does not work you will have to put on new version of OS from another disk). After you put the disk in, restart your computer and hit Enter when the screen prompts to Boot from CD...
If this does not work, you can purchase a anti-boot virus software from your local comp store, otherwise you may need a new HD. But try reinstalling the OS from scratch, that is the best way.

Trying to use recovery disk for VGC-RB34G PC. Disk 1 will not start. Properties show it full but unknown file type. Disk 2 appears to be ok but will not operate without disk 1. How do I get factory...

Sometimes manufacturers use proprietary software to start their recovery disks and that perhaps is why the file type is unknown. You say that it will not start. Are you trying to run it from within windows or at start up. All of the recovery disks that I have worked with have to be started from the boot up. The computer has to be set to start up from CD. Try that and let us know what happens.
If you need help getting the computer to start from cd let us know and we will help you.
