This phillips Magnavox 26D/32MD251id LCD TX with DVD player is one year old. It will not power up. I tried the manuals suggestion of unplugging it for sixty seconds, same problem.

SOURCE: TV will not Power Up / Blinking Green Light on Power Button

May be the same problem Magnavox is having with their 27MF231d. I found the fix on this site and it took care of the same problem with my set. Not the easiest thing to do, but it worked. If you do not know how to solder, get some help with this one. If you take it to a Magnavox Authorized repair location, they will just replace the bad capacitor with another bad capacitor of the same type and voltage. The problem is they have a 25w capacitor where a 35w capacitor should be. Mine was bulging, with black tar looking stuff coming out of it. It was obviously bad. Follw the instructions below.

1. Remove all screws around perimeter, one screw at the lower right at (Side A/V), and 2 1”round plastic knob s.
2. Remove back cover
3. At lower left side remove 2 screws for On/Off switch cut tie wrap that holds wire down for free movement.
4. Disconnect wire connector to side A/V at lower right side
5. Disconnect wire connector to right side circuit Board
6. Disconnect wire connector to left side circuit board
7. Remove the 2 mounting brackets upper left and upper right 2 screws each.
8. Remove 3 screws each side of the metal box in the middle
9. Fold back metal tape off bottom and top of metal box
10. 1 wire connector at top of box I left connected
11. Flip metal box over towards top of Tv. Be careful of wire at top thats still connected.
12. On left side in box is power supply board
13. Towards bottom of board you should see the numbers C2081 and C2074
14. Remove the six screws holding down power supply board
15. Flip board down towards bottom of Tv.
16. Unsolder capacitors replace with new 1200uf 35v and 2200uf 35v 105°C radial capacitors
17. Capacitors should be around 1/2” to 5/8” dia. X 1.25 long appox. 2 Wires come out of one end should be .030 dia.
18. Reassemble in reverse order and enjoy

Power green light Blinking, Will not power up.

Got this from Phillips:

Question My TV has no picture.
Answer Press the menu button on the remote. If the menu appears you are probably experiencing a signal or connection problem.

If you have a menu check the following:
  • Video inputs may be shared. If you have sound but no picture, check that audio and video inputs are going to same.
  • Check antenna connections at the bottom of the TV to see if they are properly connected to the TV.
  • Possible broadcast station trouble. Try another channel.
  • Adjust the contrast and brightness settings. Try another auto picture setting.
  • Check the Closed Captions control. Some TEXT modes could block the screen.
  • Check if you selected the correct AV source. (For LCD TV with built-in DVD player, the correct DVD source is AV1.)
If you have been watching the set and you loose picture:
Your TV has a protective mode in case there is too much heat build-up. Check the clearance around the vents of the device to be certain there are no blocking walls or cabinets which would limit the air flow.

Is it installed in a TV cabinet? These models produce a lot more heat than you think. So the last suggestion is a likely culprit.

One other possibility. Some models have these, some don't but look for a small "red reset button" recessed some where in the back of the set near the power cord. It is a built in circuit breaker.

Flashing green light and no picture on phillips tv

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. Unlike other brand sets, counting the number of blinks to Philips it different. It is not directly countable. Check the site for more details.

Phillips LCD TV,green power light changes to red blinking light when power button is pic and no sound.

Look at the power supply first; look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.

T.V won't turn back on

Sounds like a component shorted out for sure. I will guess he will say, "It needs a new power board". I would guess a transistor or microchip burnt out. Probably ESD damage from a new factory worker.

Phillip tv

Probably bad inverter board. It has a short in inverter board and as soon as it powers up it detects the excessive current draw and shuts the set back off. Open it up, unplug the power supply connections to the inverter board then try to turn it on, if you get a green light then the inverter is bad. Try E-bay for replacement board.
