This sounds like it may be the main power transformer that has gone bad. If you have a volt meter I can direct you thru checking it to be certain of it. I work at an authorized Denon repair center and have repaired many of these receivers, but troubleshooting them is rarely an easy job. It is not uncommon for one symptom to have several different causes. As mentioned above, I think the most likely reason would be the main power transformer but it could also be the microprocessor or the power supply or even a problem in the amplifier circuit causing the unit to go into protect mode. If you do not have a voltmeter and some decent troubleshooting skills I really think you would be better served to have it checked by a service center rather than trying to fix it yourself. It is very easy to make mistakes while trying to fix electronics even with experience, and much more likely if you have no experience. It normally leads to causing more problems than you started with. This is a very good receiver and is well worth paying to have it fixed. If it is the power transformer you can count on paying about $125 for the transformer and then anywhere from $75 to $120 for labor, but this is much more expensive than that to replace with a new one.

Let me know if you are going to try to fix this yourself, and remember you must have at least a voltmeter to check the power transformer. I can guide you thru checking it if you have the proper tools. A multimeter is better, it can check voltages, resistance and current. I also have the service manual in PDF format if you need it, it has all schematics and part numbers you need to fix it. I can email it to you.

I don't have the multimeter but read some on how to test it. I think to have it worked on from what you said on technicalities. I'm handy and clean it right but this takes additional knowledge. There is a transformer on ebay for $35.00 I may purchase but knowing to test them matters again. I would want to know. That is why I ask if the transformer gets warm when unit is on a few minutes. This one didn't ?

Shouldn't it get warm some ? Thanks for you good answer Dave. It helped me.

Display gone, no longer functioning

Green light but no display- most likely main transformer is gone (60%), 35%- blown main fuse, 5%- bad display or power supply. You are lucky if unit is still under warranty. Solution- repair shop.

Display on Denon AVR-2307 won't work

It may seem obvious, but have you checked the display dimmer settings? Under the front cover is a button marked dimmer. Pressing it cycles through progressive display dimness settings until it goes off. One more press goes back to full brightness.

DEnon AVR 2807 not giving desired output

You may be able to unplug the unit. Then turn it back on while pressing two buttons on the front of the unit. You will have to find out which two buttons they are, it can't just be any two. What you will be doing to the unit is resetting the micoprossing of the unit. When you do this the unit will flash, reset itself, you the release the buttons and your good as new. I have done this with a couple different reciever and it is a easy fix.

I need to set multi coponets

Your best set up is to plug the DVD and the direct tv optical or coaxial out. The Denon has both. You will then have to choose digital input on the receiver. There is a blue indicator light that will light and a graphic that will show all speakers are working. There is also a pink noise test that will play each speaker in order. This test button is located on the remote.

How do you reboot the Denon AVR-2807 to factory settings

To reboot, turn receiver off by the small on/off button, not the big standby button. While off press the night and pure direct button at the same time and keep holding them with your right hand while pressing the small on/off button with your left. You will see your receiver menu flash. When you see it flash let go of the night and pure direct button and the receiver will reset it self to the radio station 87.50. The receiver's microprocessor has now been set back to factory. Enjoy this info is straight from Denon's Tech support. I had to do this on mine
