Panasonic DMR-E80H Change Disc Error

My Panasonic DMR-E80H has been displaying "Change Disc" after I have tried to reset and do a recover. It is showing this message when it is trying to recover the hard drive. Does this mean my hard drive needs to be replaced?

Thanks vanmanny69. DLed the update & it worked perfect. Note: you must unplug the unit for 2 minutes after the update to make it work. For those who have trouble finding the DL, here is the link

Re: Panasonic DMR-E80H Change Disc Error

If you haven't done so, try downloading the firmware update from their support site. Burn the update file to a cd-rom.

I have had numerous times where my unit recovered and I had to format the hard drive(losing all of my shows), but since I did the update this has not happened to me again.

Panasonic DMR-E80H "u99" error message?

It sounds like the HDD is finished, it could not recover, you could see if a computer repair store can help, they have the tools and the software to take it further, but I would consider cost for the attempt.

How to transfer Panasonic DMR-E80H recorded DVDs to computer

I have to agree with XELIAM regarding finishing the disk, under the DVD "FUNCTIONS" selection from the remote. I also use the SLYSOFT products to transfer my videos to what ever other mode of video I wish to have, whether iPOD (MP4), or DIVX (AVI) or loads of other options. Slysoft makes a GREAT product

My DMR-E80H will no longer record onto blank DVDs

One solution is to clean the laser lens. Try using one of those lens cleaning CDs.

Also, sometimes the DVD may slip on the spindle, which may cause reading errors. Spindle cleaning usually involves taking the machine apart.

My panasonic dvd recorder is showing error screen u61, but what ever i do it does not solve the problem, ''self check did not complete''

First is there a disk in the dvd drive? If so it must be removed. have you tried a factory reset? Press and hold the up and down channel buttons on the front of the unit until the unit displays BYE then after it shuts down unplug it from the AC outlet for about 30 seconds then try to turn it back on it should be back in the first time setup.

DVD Ram recorder

Mine, a Panasonic DMR-E80H, didn't like some of the Ram disk either. Either I was trying to erase it or just read it and it would shut it self off and go into recover mode.
So, I pulled the plug overnight. Then, first thing after I plugged it back in was to eject the disk before it tried to read it. Once the disk was out. It stopped going into recover mode.
Good Luck.

DMR E80H hard drive

DMR-E80H Hard drive problem seems to pretty common. My drive started making the famaous kerchunk noise tonight. After disassembly I see the drive is a ATA133 Maxtor drive....are you sure that you replaced it with the correct drive? I may contact Maxtor and try to get an RMA since the drive is only 3yrs old. Good Luck
