Question about Olympus Stylus 720 SW Digital Camera

1 Answer

Where did the volume go??

To Whom it may concern:

I am taking videos with my Olympus Stylus 720 WATERPROOF camera and all of a sudden, there is no volume OR it's extremely faint. I took the camera down a couple of water slides so could that have affected the volume? But it's waterproof so it shouldn't have made a difference. So where is the volume control and how do I turn it up? Please advise. Thanks!

After used in beach the camera turns on but no image shows up>

Well it might be waterproof, but it may not include saltwater proof. I think that is the case. If so, then the salt got into your camera and caused something to not work. I would take it in Olympus and let them look at it. It could just be a bad camera.

My guess the lcd screen was faulty or the water leaked in there and shortcircit it.

Minor problems when dry, completely useless when wet

Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $112 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

I just posted this answer on an old Dec. 07 posting.

In case you can't find it, try opening the DC IN / USB port cover just to the right of the dial. This breaks the waterproof seal and allows the camera to open. I think the design flaw is an inadequate volume differential in the water sealed cavity to properly account for the change in volume caused by the lens opening / retracting. The USB cover can be closed once the lens is open to restore the waterproof characteristics.
