You need to call someone (hvac company) to recollect it legally. they'll need to install a pierce valve and **** it out to collect it. it's illegal to let it out yourself. 1800 junk might do it for a small fee.

Hello, The drain behind the back panel in the freezer is frozen or blocked up. Remove the back panel remove as much ice as possible and pour boiling water in the bottom section under the evaporator. be careful not to touch the aluminum it will cut you or break. you will see the drain hole sometimes it takes a while to thaw all the ice. Hope this helps and please rate me Thank You.

Basement flooded and chest freezer was down there. Any chance the freezer will work again or is it junk?

Yes it will work again. But I would not trust it. If you do want to use it you will want to let it dry out fre at least one week.

My hotpoint ff187e fridge/freezer keeps bleeping and flashing how can i fix this? it is only 18 months old.

Turn the second knob at the top to off (freezer knob) turn the fridge freezer off. Then turn it back on. That may sort it. Or you may need to totally defrost the machine as there could be some ice blocking some vents. May need to remove the back panel of the freezer for this (inside).

Changing light bulb in a 25 year old freezer

Whatever you do, you MUST unplug the freezer before attempting any repairs... there will not be any release buttons, nor any special installations for water safety... also, take care to avoid cutting yourself on the broken glass..

1) did the whole light bulb glass And internals come out, or is the internal part of the bulb still present?
2) verify that the light bulb is really a screw-in appliance bulb -- look into the center of the broken bulb and see if the metal base has internal ridges -- or if the metal base is smooth on the inside...
3)  if a screw-in appliance bulb:  3a)  if the whole light bulb glass AND internals came out, you will have to probably look very close inside the socket to determine the wall of light bulb base... it should be very thin and flexible and very unlikely you can unscrew it directly -- I've had to take needle-nosed pliers and gently bend and twist until the bulb base came out...
3b)  if part of the glass remains as well as the internal stem, I have heard that one could cut a potato in half and then push the internal part of the potato onto the broken end of the bulb and gently unscrew the bulb by twisting the potato... never tried this so I don't know if it will work -- if the internal stem is still intact, I'd use my fingers and try to gently turn it to unscrew the bulb
4) if it has smooth inside wall -- this is probably a bulb with small exterior pins -- the base should be a little more thicker than the screw-in type, so you should be able to push the bulb base in -- a little give in the spring holding it in -- if you feel this give, then turn carefully counterclockwise and it should pop out...
Again, turn off all electrical power to the freezer, Pull the Plug before attempting any repairs... remove all glass and handle with care...

Poor tasting Ice

There could be a filter installed. The filter usually looks like a long tube about 6-10" long and about 1-3" round.
Try to located the water line. This will be either a copper or plastic tube about 1/4" diameter and will be going into your fridge from the back of the unit.
The filter could also be located at the point of where the water is being supplied from. Possibly under your sink or it could of been tapped into another line in the basement if you have one.
If you located a filter, you will be able to see if you would be able to remove it and replace it on your own. It usually takes a couple of wrenches, but MAKE SURE YOU SHUT THE WATER SUPPLY OFF FIRST before attempting to remove it or else you might have to go swimming. (Actually it's a small tube, so not a lot of water will come out, but you still need to shut off the water supply to the fridge. Then you can bring the old filter into your local hardware store and get a replacement.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
Mac =)
