Power light, play and open tray light all stay on. I cannot turn power off. What do you expect for a cheap piece of crap.

Same problem. The light for power and "disc in" are lighted, but I can't get anything else to work. When I power down and start over the same thing happens.

I am having similar issues. The DVD gets stuck in the player and it wont eject. None of the buttons will respond. The red light on the front of the machine stays on.

My dvd player is doing the same thing. After a few minutes both play and eject will light up and the player becomes unresponsive and will not do a thing. I know they are cheap but should probably last a little longer than this.

A solution:

The problem I found with a unit I just got was that there is a capacitor next to a B1117 voltage regulator, I also though that
the problem was that this component was overheating but the
solution was to simply replace a 16V 100uF capacitor with a
bigger one, in my case a 16V 470uF.

Now my DWM-400 is working great.

If for obvious reasons you can't perform the replacement, just
take your unit to a repair shop and tell them to look for that capacitor.
tip: there are three B1117's, the one in question is the hottest one.

I have a similar problem with the Sanyo DWM-400. I also cannot turn power off. Even when I unplug it and then again plug in the power cord it will come back on after several minutes all by its self. It will then work okay for a few minutes and will play a DVD and will suddenly quit showing a picture. It seems that something is overheating shortly after turning it on. After letting it sit and cool down for a while it will play again but only for few minutes. Although I have had this player since April 2004 it has rarely been used. I estimate it only been used no more than 10 hours total. With so many buyers having this problem Sanyo should issue a recall on this model.

I have a sanyo dvd player dwm-395. how do i unlock it w/o remot

For the DVM-390 model, I believe this solution should work on the DVM-395 model - Push and hold down the Open/Close button until "UN-LOC" appears on the FL display (or "Disc Tray Unlocked" appears on the TV screen).

My Sanyo DWM-400 plays some DVD's and won't play others.

I bought another DVD player. I found out that all DVD's don't play on all DVD brands of players. They are cheap enough these days so I decided it wasn't worth a repair bill. The Sanyo DWM-400 plays many of my store bought DVD's and not others. I never tried a home made DVD in it so I don't know how it responds.

Somebody said they had the same problem, and suggested the following: On the DVD unit, press STOP and POWER buttons at the same time, and then IMMEDIATELY (1 second or less) press the PREV button. He said, for him it popped up with WM for the Market and 1 for the Region automatically. The codr WM is 00 if you need it. That was all he had to do, and now it's working. Hope that helps anybody else who comes along with the same problem.
