Question about IBM ThinkPad A31 Notebook
Hi all, my A31's battery was replaced about a year ago. It's used mostly
while plugged in, but the battery was working fine. It shows a 93% charge.
The problem is that the laptop turns off the instant the power plug is pulled.
Anyone know how to fix that? Is there a certain power board that can be replaced? I replaced a power inverter for the LCD screen about 6 months ago.
It's very nice machine with a beautiful display. I'd like to keep it going.
It is a loose or broken battery.
93% ? i think it's shorted out.

Tips for a great answer:
You can try taking out your battery and use only the charger (AC adapter only ) to see if the computer works. If your battery less laptop works fine that way, it is most likely that there is a problem with your battery.
You can also try testing your battery by substituting a battery that's functional from another laptop of the same model. If the substituting battery works fine then you may need to replace your battery :(
I recently used this company to purchase a new battery fro my laptop. I have HP laptop and my replacement battery only cost about $40. If you are looking for a low cost replacement, this might be helpful. Here is the link for the company I used.
Hope everything works out well for you!
