My scrollbar will not work. I can use my touchpad just right and right click and left click, but I cannot scroll on a page I have to use my arrow keys, how do I fix this?

Most modern laptops with touchpads offer vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling or both. These features are located along the right-hand and bottom edges of the touchpad, respectively, and are activated when you swipe your finger along the touchpad edge. Scrolling functionality is nearly always enabled by default, but some users find the feature an annoyance and elect to turn it off. In most cases you can simply turn the feature back on using the Windows Control Panel.

Click the Windows Start button, select "Settings," and then click "Control Panel." Double-click the icon labeled "Mouse." Select the Touchpad properties tab. The labeling of this tab varies, depending on your computer manufacturer, operating system version and the device drivers installed on your machine. Common labels include "Touch Pad," "Device Settings" and "Dell Touchpad." If you do not see this option, you may not be able to turn on scrolling for your laptop; skip the remaining steps and refer to the "Warnings" section below. Click the "Settings" button within the Touchpad Properties menu and look for the section labeled "Scrolling Settings" or similar. Enable scrolling within this section and define other scroll settings, such as scroll zone width and scrolling speed. Click "OK" to confirm your changes, and then close the Control Panel windows opened in the previous steps. The scrollbar on your laptop is now enabled.
Scroll Is Not Working With Windows 7 b> Certain computer touchpads have a vertical section on the pad itself that is used to scroll through the page or program window that you are currently viewing on your computer. If the scroll functionality suddenly stops working but the actual touchpad is still fine, this means that the part of the software for the device that controls the ability to use the scroll has been disabled. You can enable it again in the Control Panel.
Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Mouse." Select the "Enable Scroll" option (or whatever similarly named option is available on your specific model of laptop computer). Click "Apply." The scroll bar on your touchpad will now work again.

2. Under Mouse properties Window click the Device Settings tab
3. Click on Device Settings -> Settings button. This will display the Properties for Synaptics TouchPad on PS/2 port.

4. Follow the steps below to enable the Tapping Feature :

Highlight Tapping in the Left hand side , and Check the Enable tapping in the Right hand box .

5. Follow the steps below to enable Scroll feature:

Highlight Virtual Scrolling in the Left hand side and Check both the boxes in the right hand side.
6. Click OK .
Alternatively you can anble scrolling by reinstalling touchpad driver.

How do I scroll using the touchpad? I can't find

Usually you can just run your finger down the right hand side. There should be some arrows there, telling you which way is up, and which is down...
Just in case you get lost.

Finger scroll not functioning. Is there possible

This is a common problem with touchpads. You should update the drivers for the touchpad on the laptop manufacturer's website, or if you are sure you have the most recent drivers (You shouldn't be, unless you updated them yesterday) then try this:

(WinXP)
Go to the Control Panel and click Printers and Other Hardware, then Mouse near the bottom. Since there are so many Touchpad devices with different settings this is about as far as I can help you here, there may be a tab on the far right side leading to more settings. You should poke around in here being careful not to change anything unrelated to Virtual Scrolling, or just Scrolling in general.

(Win Vista/7)
Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse
There may be a tab on the far right side of the window at the top.
Click this tab and goto Settings, if it exists. In the new window you may see several options, look for anything related to Scrolling. Mine shows "Virtual Scrolling". Click that, and make sure the check box "Enable vertical scrolling" is checked.

If you don't see any of these things, update your drivers and try again..

Hp dv7-1285dx touchpad vertical scroll no longer working

Whatever be the laptop, HP bundles the necessary drives in the C drive under the folder SwSetup. You'll find the touchpad driver in this folder. For the steps in installing and making the touch pad work follow

Touch pad

If you have the drivers for the touchpad installed then you should be able to run your finger up or down the right hand side of the touch pad and have it scroll the page you are one.

If it doesn't work then you may need to either reinstall the drivers or find the program that handles the touch pad settings (usually found in program files) and turn the scrolling feature back on.

Hope that helps :)
