Sansa clip went dead

Slide the power button on your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player up.

  • 2 Hold the power button on your Sansa in the up position for about 15 seconds. This action serves as a powering down of the Sansa device.
  • 3 Wait for your Sansa MP3 player to restart and let go of the power button. Actions taken during your last operation since powering down normally have been deleted and your player is now reset.

My Sansa Clip just stopped playing and shut down. I cannot get it to turn back on or to charge on my computer. This is the 2nd one I have had this happen with. What is the problem?

On my e260r, that happened while I was just getting done with a bike ride. Figured it was the humidity from being in a pocket. I simply fixed it by pulling out and immediately reinstalling the battery.
On my Clip+, the first bike ride that happened. I just held down the power button for about 20 seconds then tried to turn it on and that somehow fixed it.
Same case as yours... just stopped playing. Wouldn't respond to controls nor do anything when plugged into computer. Just dead. Try it holding down the power button and trying to restart and if that fails, do the battery thing.

Device will not power on. It is fully charged.

I have had several people bring me in their units dead. You need to try a reset first. Connect the USB cable to your unit and your computer Press and hold the ON button and the PLAY (>||) button at the same time for 20 seconds.

The unit is dead. it does not switch on despite plugging in usb. i tried to reset as well but it is simply put 'dead'.

It may be fully discharged, and you may be plugging it into a low-power USB port. Try plugging it into a USB port on the back panel of a desktop PC. Or, try charging it with an AC-to-USB adapter (plugged into wall socket).

    Power Button doesn't work??

The usb connection supplies power to the unit and is independent from the battery. So, most likely, either your battery is dead and needs to be charged, or, the battery is no longer accepting a charge, or the battery may have become dislodged (the wire from the battery to the unit). You can access the battery from the back of the unit.

    Dead Player

Hmmm...the MP3 parts shouldn't have lined up with the iPod dock. Check that area for damage in case your son accidentally forced it. Otherwise, hold the power button for 15 seconds. That can occasionally jump-start my player, and it turns the player off even if it is frozen.
