Question about Televison & Video
Was watching TV yesterday and all of a sudden it went out. When I turn the TV on, I hear a squeaking noise for about 10 seconds, then, nothing. No picture appears or anything. The power light just flashes. I called customer service and they had me to unplug the set, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in while pushing the power button. Said this was a reset for this TV but still nothing.
This sounds like a bad convergence board.
You didn't mention the model but I bet its a samsung rear projection HDTV.
If the convergence board fails, you can diagnose by pulling the power leads to the 3 convergence circuits, then power on the tv, if it lights (picture will have very bad convergence) then that is most likely the cause.
You can usually buy a new convergence board for about $80-$100. Look on eBay by the make and model of the TV.
And its real easy to replace.
