You shouldn't be breaking pins on either side.

Excessive debris in snow field?

Its designed to move snow, not frozen chunks of ice, nor tree branches, nor mulch, nor hockey pucks, nor concrete, nor...

if snow field is free of debris, then check for and remove foreign objects stuck in augers, such as wire, cable, rope, scarves.

If heaviy packed snow, slow down.

SOURCE: Left Front Brake not releasing so building

Sounds crazy but replace your brake line and see if that helps. I've had vehicles that do the same thing when there's a restriction in the brake line.

SOURCE: Auger turning slow. Auger turns initially but

sure sounds like a shear pin, usually one end will be missing if it is broke. They are simple to replace but get one that is rated for your machine to avoid damage. Can you turn it freely without the engine running?? if so, it's the shear pin

SOURCE: My MTD 10hp auger will

Yes there are 2 belts one for the drive and one for the auger. If you remove the cover on top that is located between the engine and the auger housing you can check the belts. The auger belt has come off the pulley or is broken. Hope this helps you out. Best regards and good luck.

How do I get the left wheel of a Murray snow thrower to engaged when the traction lever is engaged?

You will find there is a shear pin that has broken in the wheel that will not engage. Not sure if its a pin or bolt. I had to replace one several years ago.

How to change shear pin

With the motor OFF, the shaft shouldn't rotate, so you should be able to rotate the auger by hand until the holes line up.

30 in. craftsman snow thrower, model no. 247.883960,pulls to the right

If your blower uses the two wheels to drive which I think it does I would suggest that you have a shear pin on the right side that is broken. If that is the case you will have to pull the wheel off and replace the shear pin. You can tell if it's broken by lifting the right side and trying to turn the wheel by hand.If it turns easily its broken.
This is an idea only. You might want to check both wheels as I'm not sure as far as the steering is concerned.

Snow thrower let auger not spinning with right side

If you look on the auger shaft you will see some bolts, they are called shear pins. They are there to break if something gets in the auger and jams it, the bolts will shear off to prevent damage to the auger or something else. What you have to do is replace the shear pin or pins on the side that is not turning. Hope this is helpful. All the best and good luck.

I have Toro 826LE model 38620 S/N 250010001 & up snow thrower; one side agur will not turn under power and free wheels by hand. The problem occured this morning, there was no indication of a problem...

It sounds like you have sheared a roll pin. Look at the auger that is not turning, on one end you will see a hole, there is a steel pin that goes through the shaft, I am pretty sure that pin has sheared and allows the auger to spin freely on the shaft. You may have to find a small punch and drive out the broken piece before inserting new one. Seeing how the auger has been spinning on the shaft you're gonna have to line up the hole in the auger with the hole in the shaft. Look at the good side to see alignment. Hope this helps ya.

your shear pin(s) are broken on that side they will look o.k. but are snapped off inside drive them out with a large nail or center-punch,don't use a regular bolt to replace the shear pin as they will fit, because if it gets plugged again the gearbox will be your next expensive shear pin to replace

I cannot find where the shear bolt goes on my snow thrower.

Hi,
There will be an output shaft from the engine, that is linked to the blade assembly. Turn both slowly manually - The place where motion stops is the area that the shear bolt goes through.
This may be a pulley on a shaft, or more likely a larger shaft with a smaller shaft inside it. Look for holes either side of a tube - with a solid shaft inside. Once you have found the location - the old shear bolt may need to be tapped out with a pin drift. Rotate the shaft untill you see it.

The best way to look for it - is to design it yourself - where would you locate it?
