Question about ATI RADEON X1650 Xt, (256 MB) Graphic Card

1 Answer

Screen periodically goes blank for about a second

Every couple of minutes my display goes blank for about 1 second and than returns like nothing happened. When i'm playing a game or watching a movie, something that requiers higher performance from the graphics card the frequency of this event increases to about once every 10 sec or so. I'm running Windows XP and the graphics card is a Radeon X1650.

Re: Screen periodically goes blank for about a second

This is probably the VPU resetting itself. The radeons have the option in the control panel for allowing the VPU to reboot itself if it hangs. Could be a sign of insufficient juice from the PSU or insufficient airflow allowing the card to get too hot. I had to change my cheap 550W PSU to a better quality 500W unit to get enough current (amps) on the 12V rail for my AMD CPU and radeon cards. Cheaper PSUs tend to have high current 3V3 and 5V rails but poor 12V capability.

Where can I find a driver/adapter for Advent X19W LCD Monitor?

Goto device manager , uninstall the card. go into control panel and check that the driver is uninstalled from the programs list. Swich of the pc for a minute or two then reboot Windows updares does not download drivers for graphics cards so will not install or reinstall the driver that is causing the issue, 307? Users forget to uninstall from program manger in control panel which is why the card keeps reinstalling with the undesired driver.
Please let me know what happens

Second display shows only blue blank screen but I can see the pointer

This is an extended display. You can move open windows, icons, or folders over to the second screen. This is called a dual-monitor setup. You can also set the second monitor to duplicate what your primary monitor is showing.

XP Service pack 3 will not boot with NVidia Geoforce 6600 drivers

There's a chance that your screen resolution is set higher than your monitor can handle. Try booting into safe mode and see if you can resolve the problem. You may also have to configure the BIOS to use the expansion slot that your using for the primary video, and turn the integrated (on-board) one off. (If you haven't already done so)

No input signal

Check connections, Hertz rate, and settings (if you can read them). Otherwise, it may be time to whip out the cash and get a new monitor and/or computer.
