Same description as "nowonhere" grinding sound like bearings are gone during spin cycle - not necessarily noticed during agitation.

Kenmore HE2 was initially so quiet you did not even know it was, souns like something inside is grinding inside while spin cycle is running. I am hoping there is some simple fix...or to at least identify what may be causing this before I get totally ripped off by a repairman....;)

all of a sudden sounds real bad on final spin cycle. Also squeaky during slow wash. Checked floor level, seemed ok. Opened bottom and top and seems to be inside drum. Also found ~4 x3 inch of plastic mold that was part of outer shell of drum that had broken off. Next step will be to take off back cover and see if something is visible that seems to make drum off balance . Gentle cycle not as bad as othes but still way loud. Debating to call sears service, buy topend for 279 or see if I can fix.

    Grinding sound while agitating

Real loud grinding noise when spinning. It stopped then started to smoke and smell. I took it apart and seen a barring that had been damaged. Doesn't balance when spinning. What part do i need to order

I have a Kenmore Laundrey Centre that is about 12 yrs. old. Over the years the most that went wrong with it was the dryer. I was able to fix everythime but now the washer is grinding during the spion cycle. I'm hearing that it could be a tub bearing and seal problem. Any other thoughts and is it worth fixing after 12 years.

How do I remove the agitator from LG top Load washer

the agitator is held by a bolt with a 7/16 drive nut located inside the middle of agitator from the top downward? however by ur description sounds like maybe u have bad bearing in the hub? the cam dogs in the agitator dont usually make any noise especially when bad they just dont allow the agitator to move or catch the groves to agitate. The grinding could also be coming from something stuck inside the tub or on its outside and thus is hitting the wall lining and makes a screeching scraping sound, Ive seen this several times, a bra wire, or loose coin or key, etc

My Maytag Performa makes a grinding sound when it agitates. When it starts to dump the water it makes a loud grinding on metal sound... really loud. What is the problem and how much to fix?

Noise when agitateing wash only

Remove the belt, and spin drum by hand from inside, there should be little or no noise, if there is then it is possible the drum bearings are failing.
I f no noise, but there is when you put belt back on, then possibly bearing in motor noisy

Kenmore 80 topload washer agitation cycle noisy and high current

Sounds like a motor problem drawing to many amps dimming lights. Check drain pump to see if pump has obstruction in it causing resistance. Run machine while pump is off to see if light dim.

Maytag top load performa, put clothes in , fill up and now the agitator is noisey, looked under washer belt appears to be loose 2-3 inches in play, should I replace belt,or something else to repair noise...

thats normal tension on the belt if the agitator is making noise the cams within the agitator are worn (loud clicking or popping noise during wash) the agitator will need to be replaced
