-   I have a Kenmore Laundrey Centre that is about 12 yrs. old. Over the years the most that went wrong with it was the dryer. I was able to fix everythime but now the washer is grinding during the spion cycle. I'm hearing that it could be a tub bearing and seal problem. Any other thoughts and is it worth fixing after 12 years.-   poregan

all of a sudden sounds real bad on final spin cycle. Also squeaky during slow wash. Checked floor level, seemed ok. Opened bottom and top and seems to be inside drum. Also found ~4 x3 inch of plastic mold that was part of outer shell of drum that had broken off. Next step will be to take off back cover and see if something is visible that seems to make drum off balance . Gentle cycle not as bad as othes but still way loud. Debating to call sears service, buy topend for 279 or see if I can fix.

Kenmore HE2 was initially so quiet you did not even know it was on...now, souns like something inside is grinding inside while spin cycle is running. I am hoping there is some simple fix...or to at least identify what may be causing this before I get totally ripped off by a repairman....;)

Same description as "nowonhere" grinding sound like bearings are gone during spin cycle - not necessarily noticed during agitation.
