LiDE 25 Flatbed troubleshooting

Hi there
My scanner just went dead, everything is hooked up as usually and I had used it several times in the last few days with no problem , but now it is dead for no apparant reason. Can you please help

    My 6wk old Canon canoscan lide 25 just went dead without warning. This is the same problem as happened to my previous lide 60 scanner, which I assumed was just a one-off. Looks like Canon lide25/60 scanners my have a recurrent fault ! (and no, it's not a lead fault).

    I have the same problem. The scanner has worked perfectly before, and now, with nothing whatever changed, it is not even recognised as being on. Nothing works, it's just dead. It worked fine before, so I obviously have the right drivers. Nothing has happened to the cable or USB ports. It simply worked one day, and didn't work the next.

Maybe you could elaborate a little on the problem. What OS? What are the symptoms? Are there any errors?

Scanner not detected

I have the same problem with my Canoscan LiDE 25 scanner used sparingly since purchase in 2008. Last used 3 days back after a gap of a few months when it scanned a few pages and then stopped working. On connecting the scanner to my laptop on Vista Home Premium 32-bit it shows "USB device not recognized". No change in status after uninstalling drivers, cleaning my system, and reinstalling drivers from the Canon CD, or Canon US site, or Canon UK site. Even tried VueScan but this also does not recognize the scanner. I find it hard to believe that a Canon product stops working in barely 5-6 years even though it is very sparingly used and stored in the original packing when not in use.

Hi there, yes I did everything per your instructions, Toolbox is installed and it still says, "release the lock switch, detach I/F cable and reconnect. Scanner driver will be closed" and then after clicking on that it says "Unable to open TWAIN source. Please check connection then restart toolbox" I have been to the Canon site and downloaded driver sites and it says everything is working. but when I go to scan it comes up with the boxes I said before. Quite lost at the moment? Thanks Maureen. PS I have unstalled and reinstalled
