Goodman ckl49-1 fan doesn't work after a really bad storm.

Goodman ckl49-1 fan doesn't work after a really bad rain storm. I checked the contactor and it works, I also made sure the relay works and it does. There is power comming out of the contactor to the capacitor. There is a purple, brown and a black wire going to the fan motor. Do you know the ohms reading for the motor? or if I can bypass everything to see if the motor works. The compressor turns on and gets hot.I turn it off so it doesn't overheat. Also how do you put more oil in the compressor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is possible that the rain has washed out the bearings and the motor is frozen up. You may need to replace the motor. Also you don't need to put more oil in the compressor. The compressor comes with oil already sealed in it and it does not need to be changed or any more oil added to it.

1 posible cause.the thermostat supplies 24 volts to the outside unit to control the contactor if you hear a ligth huming on the outside unit this is the being activated. if this is the case then
check to see if any ants are in or around the unit see video, they will usually climb to dry areas before during or after a storm and for some reason they like the contactor if this is the case cut all power to the unit and clean contactor spray the area around the unit with an insecticide ( not the contactor) replace cover and test unit. Hello, are you getting 24 volts at the contactor coil if you are and the coil does not engage sounds like you have a bad contactor coil, good news tnis part is really cheap, only about 10-15 bucks.

The fan does not run

I am assuming that this is the condenser(outside unit)? You will need a multimeter, take off the four screws and at the contactor measure and see if you have voltage. I am assuming the contactor is engaging, if not push in contactor. Fan and compressor should come on, if it does the you will have to check for 26 volts on the contactor where your thermostat wires come in, if you have the volts then the contactor is bad. Hope this helps Tim

Outside fan motor will not start. will this keep compressor from operating?

Is the compressor running? First check your contactor and see if it is pulled in energizing the fan and compressor. If it is then check the voltage at the load side of the contactor. If you don't have voltage at the contactor then check you breakers or fuses. If the contactor is pulled in and you have voltage then check the capacitor for the fan and compressor and replace if it is bad. If your compressor is running and the fan isn't it will cause you compressor to shut down because of high pressure. If the compressor is running and the fan isn't then again check the capacitor and replace it if it's bad.

Not blowing cold air. Checked outside unit and looks clean but fan not turning

You may have a bad capacitor, fan relay/contactor, or motor. Check the capacitor for the fan, if the capacitor is ok, then check the fan relay/contactor. If this is ok, then the fan motor is bad.

Goodman hp and air model cple30-1 outside unit icing up on auto and not when fan is on

You have stuck contactor or a bad Tstat. Call a service tech and get a free estimate on repair. To check to see if it a bad contactor turn ac tsat to off position and see if it still runs. Open up service panel and check contactor. if possible most Goodmans have a covered contactor unless you take the cover off you can not tell Rus

Fan does not turn but motor seems to be running fine

Rain should not affect an outdoor unit. It is designed to be outside. The motor that you are hearing... could this just be your compressor running? If the condenser fan is not operational the compressor will run much louder. TURN THE POWER OFF! See if the fan will spin freely if it is pushed. If it doesn't replace the fan motor. If it does you need to check the power at the contactor going to the condenser fan motor. This is 220 volts BE CAREFULL.. If power is going to the motor and the motor is not running... Change the motor and capacitor. If no power is going to it it could be a bad contactor.
Good luck....
