Unit shuts down and restarts for no reason

I have this mobo with celron d 3.33 250 seagate hard drive and 1 gb 3200 ddr 400 ram. I can start up unit just fine but somewhere between 5-10 minutes it starts shutting down and restarting. Tried antivirus , defrag, everything including changing the bios to stop anything that would shut it down and still it stops and restarts. the cpu is running at 67c and sytem is running 57c. Any ideas?

Re: unit shuts down and restarts for no reason

Check all cables ide connectors .the problem may lie in the processor loose hsf or broken pins.if not irregular power supply .

if the memory supports those frequencies, in most cases it would work, now depending if the board is proprietary, like dell or some hp's, then you may run into compatibility issues. you can find this information from the manufactures website.

Smoke smell from pc after ram change

yep, your mobo is fried, DDR2 and DDR do not share quite the same pin payout. Toasty Mobo, but on the plus side now you'll be able to buy one that has better driver support.

And kudos for hiring an assistant who shoehorned RAM into a slot it did not fit in and firing it up.

Problem With ddr2 (Upgrade From ddr 512mb 400 to ddr2 1gb 800)

If it works fine with one stick of ram. Then it is the ram that is incompatible. You can try different settings but you may end up that the stick isn't compatible. Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions.
