Question about RCA HD61LPW165 61" Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Audio fuzzy or cuts out

Sometimes the audio has a loud buzz noise when watching a show or when first turned on (when turning on with this problem - it emits a high pitch tone). Turning the set off, wait 3 minutes and turn on again and the problem is still there. Wait an hour and maybe the set works fine. Also, selecting the mute has no effect, the buzz is still there. The only way to stop the buzz is to select "Front Speaker external input". Using the sound signal out to an amp and back to the speaker works fine.

The problem is not the cables.

When I do have the noise, I have no control over the noise, meaning I can not turn it down or adjust the volume of the noise.

It is there with RF or audio input and makes no difference as to what source of video/audio.

I have not taken the system apart yet but believe it to be the module, not just the transistor.

Could have a loose connection in the audio section or a problem with the output IC . Also does this happen on the RF input and your A/V inputs or just one of these. If its the A/V inputs only your having this problem check your cables .

The board you are talking about is the AV/IO module . Part # is 265751 it is available at or you can have it rebuilt at . Check to see who'll give the best price . Also before you purchase a board pull out your old one and check for loose connections . This could be your only problem. Since you said you can go to external output thru a amplifer and works ok . This tells me your preamp in the audio section is ok . Check around the input jacks and the audio output IC . This not a transistor and is mounted on a Heat sink roughly 1 x 3 inches . Good luck

Why does my system cut off when there is a loud noise?

By loud noise I assume you mean in the movie you're watching or the CD you're listening to.
That's the protection circuit kicking in. Depending on how you have the player configured (audio levels, effects, mode....etc) it can "overdrive" the outputs and cause the protection circuit to energize.
If this happens a lot try changing the audio mode to something a little less (change speaker levels to a lower number, no bass boost or at least not as much, etc.).
Good luck.

Alot of loud feedback through speakers, a loud buzzing noise

What sources make it happen or which do not? All buzzing = something in the amplifier end. is it from all speakers or just one?
One external source= RCA cables not grounded. Reconnect them tightly with a twisting motion to wipe off oxidation.

Vizio makes loud static noise, picture goes fuzzy.

You should check your home wiring and grounding. Also be aware of anything that has recently been turned on when this happens. Anyone using a microvwave, cell phone, or other appliance that might be causing the interference.

You need to change the Audio / Control Head, as well as the Pinch Roller of the machine. A worn out Audio cum Control Head will reflect in poor tracking and so will cause the above problems.

check your connections again, if you have the audio and video reversed you will get this exact problem no video/ fuzzy video, and squealy noise out of only one speaker (other will likely sound correct) You're watching the sound channel, and listening to the video channel basically... hehe
