Age related. This is an old TV that eventually ends up in the junk yard. There is a FUSE on the main board that can blow and if you can find it and replace it; there is a chance it may go on again. Remember there are capacitors that have a power charge and should you physically touch one and discharge one of them; you could light up like a Christmas Tree.

SOURCE: I have a RCA 32" Flat Screen TV that shut off and

The sound was came from the clicking of the relay. This kind of symptoms is an indication of out-of-regulation condition on the power supply section. This is caused by faulty electrolytic capacitor. It will dropped the supply voltage and will trigger that kind of symptoms.

Faulty electrolytic capacitor mostly has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identified. See sample picture of faulty electrolytic capacitor below.

capacitor with bulged/dome at the top.

Check these parts on the power supply section. Once found, replaced it with same capacitance and working voltage which is printed on its body itself. Click this LINK for more info regarding electrolytic capacitor.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a qualified TV Technician to isolate the faulty parts.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

Our tv turns itself off and the red light blinks. If we unplug the set it will come back on for awhile then it shuts itself off again. It's an 11 year old tv. Can it be fixed?

Yes it can be fix, the problem of your tv is the power supply, if you remove the back cover of your tv and follow the ac cord you will see the power supply. Try to observe the electronic parts in the power supply if you see some bulged up in the top of the capacitor or not perfectly flat try to replace it or if something like a wet mark at the bottom of the capacitor that is a leaky capacitor try to replace it also. But you should remember the right or proper position of the capacitor because it has polarity. Note before opening the back cover of your tv you should be sure to unplug it. Or you could ask a technician to do it for you and to save you from stress. Good day and best regards. feel free to send feed back thanks.

I accidently locked my rca tru flat tv today in the menu and it wont turn on now but the light still comes on and I dont have the remote. What do I do?

Often it's just a matter of holding one of the panel buttons for an extended period of time. Start by holding the power button for 10 seconds and see if it unlocks. If not, turn it on, and try any of the other buttons in this manner.

White Westinghouse flat screenTV freezes up and hums.

Sometimes if you just press on your overscan button on the remote and make the picture a little bigger or smaller the humming noise and freezing of the picture will actually stop.
