The drive gears seem to be slipping on my Black and Decker LE750 edger. It's only about 2 years old with moderate usage. It it possible that it's worn out already?

Possibly the Start capacitor has leaked or has rusted. happened to my garden shreader! if you get the timing right when you start it it might work normaly. if not try to replace capacitor or get it servised
Use a better extension cord. Buy a extension cord with 12 gauge wire. The longer the cord, the more electrical resistance there is, which causes heat. Therefore use the smallest length of cord possible.
